Hey Everyone!
So I was talking to a fellow NamePro member about some weirdness with .info. He pointed out that certain .info domains expired years ago, but were still registered in an unusual HOLD status. Since he is going to try to acquire them, I won't say what they are, but suffice it to say, it piqued my interest as I never saw this before. So I was doing some .info research on the registry's site, and came across the 'History of .Info' page. About halfway down it I saw this section:
"November 17, 2002: Afilias announces that .INFO has reached over 1 million registrations. The one millionth name is los-angeles-real-estate-search.info."
see: History of .INFO | .INFO
My first thought was, what an ugly, ugly looking domain name.
My second thought was.....is it still registered?
While I am sure we can all agree that the first thought is a YES, the answer to the second thought was NO. So, seeing as how GoDaddy sell's .infos for about $1, I figured why not and bought it before really thinking.
So, my question to everyone here is, what do you think?
A quick Google search of "los-angeles-real-estate-search.info" (in quotes)
"los-angeles-real-estate-search.info" - Google Search
Comes back with 3,110,000 pages.
Seems like a lot!
Estibot says it's worth reg fee.
So, what is the consensus here? Does the publicly acknowledged 1,000,000th .info domain hold any value due to it's fame and possible sentimental attachment?
Or did I just waste a dollar? 8^X
