Possible to disable "new posts"?

Was wondering if it was possible to disable the default going to the new posts section of the site, and just to go to the standard form listing page?

Just adds an extra click & server load.

"new posts" option is very good to find out latest posts within a short time. Why u want to disable them?

Id also like to disable it, but I wouldn't mind still having it as a tab (but not default tab).

It's not an option yet, but I support the idea of being able to set your default tab.

NPQ suggested we allow members to pick their favorite forums for the homepage to make it easier to find what you're looking for.

Seriously, why is it still there? Get rid of it now, please, you're making it impossible to browser namepros properly, it was an oversight I'm sure and you can't be blamed for that, but my oh my, why hasn't it been removed?

I may be incorrect - doubtful - but it's pretty clear that this is causing all the problems. Every page load of namepros.com is querying the database for new posts, this is inevitably going to cause MASSIVE server load.

How can we be expected to conduct business here if it's constantly inaccessible because you're overloading the servers?

I'm assuming you mean when entering the site via the index ? That probably is pretty harsh on the servers ... But - "New posts" is how I enter the site anyway ... as well as all other VB forums I visit. No need to lose it altogether.

I meant removing from the frontpage, yes. I load up namepros.com, I've never used the "new posts" feature before, so by forcing me to view it on load you're adding 1 extra user to the people who search, then add every other user who visits the site the same as I do, you're adding thousands of unnecessary database queries.

New posts is fine as a feature, but as the forced default it's not.
