Porn.com ended up not making domain history at TRAFFIC since
the bidders refused to go higher than 7MM...

Ads.mobi is still going to TRAFFIC's silent auction but given the results of other .mobis on the live auction it probably won't break any records....

Any opinions?

CHEERS!

Now at $ 8,823,530.00 in the silent auction?
But the list shows 0 bids. I wonder if this is a reserve?

This is why I am asking for clarification RJ's list shows many bids on multiple names - just seems too good to be true?

Have recieved confirmation that they are reserve prices - reserve selling price + Monikers fee - now it makes sense - but why list reserve prices!

Looked too good to be true - it was. :(

Thanks for confirming. Why list reserves? Cuts to the chase IMO and gets the first bids to be a real sale and not just 20 nickel and dime low balls that don't even meet 1/2 the reserve.

^ Thanks for the clarification ...
Moniker's fees!, plus the attendee non-refundables, plus the price of admittance, charge to vendors, etc., I'd say Traffic was a financial success for the owners, IMHO. :gl:
Does anyone have a breakdown of the financials from the previous Traffic show (the one where Flowers.mobi was purchased by one of the Traffic owners, I believe)?

Looked too good to be true - it was. :(

Yup.
With the caveat that there is still some time left in the Silent Auction, as well. :talk:

PS. RJ has an updated post in the other thread, as well (just read it)! :gl:

Why not post reserves ? If this industry is ever going to mature maybe it will become like every other industry and customers can know "How much is this" Walk into a mens store "How much is this Armani Suit?" Make me offer "OK GFY, like that offer?" I mean people want to have a lottery ticket mentality, make me an offer I hope to hit for lottery jackpot money. BuyDomains sells a lot of domains each week on DNJ because IMO they have prices for most of their domains. I am glad the reserves are shown Good Job Monte

Very true, people trying to sell domains without stating prices probably are holding themselves back. In a bid to try and get maximum prices they are probably missing out on a heap of sales.

But why label it an auction if reserves are shown? Why not just call them the "starting bid" with no reserve... If it really is an auction, imho, reserves should not be shown. If it really is a sale, similar to equity's analogy, then sure - set a price.

^ This is much different than ... (see below):
BuyDomains sells a lot of domains each week on DNJ because IMO they have prices for most of their domains.

BD's has good to very good domain names, generally prices them realistically, and subsequently sells them (as reported in the DNJ (versus being sold on DNJ, of course). :talk:

In the top quote above, by contrast, it feels like pure speculation and hype (in the, "lottery ticket mentality"). This is not healthy ... as is the case with the BD's model. So, either price domains realistically to sell ... OR ... put them in auction with a reasonable "starting price" and let the market dictate IMHO. This "pie in the sky", "lottery ticket" mentality is passe, really.
Thanks for listening to my humbles.

big agree...I get peeps on ebay all the time asking what the reserve is...if I wanted to tell that it would just be a starting bid...not an auction.

Jeff I am not really sure what you were saying, I was saying the lottery ticket mentality is a joke or as you put it passe and right reported in DNJ not sold there haha

Allan isn't that still an auction? it is a no reserve auction, I know personally I do not participate in RESERVE auctions just mental masturbation IMO......... Either you want to sell your merchandise or you do not wish to sell your merchandise
