Porn.com ended up not making domain history at TRAFFIC since
the bidders refused to go higher than 7MM...

Ads.mobi is still going to TRAFFIC's silent auction but given the results of other .mobis on the live auction it probably won't break any records....

Any opinions?

CHEERS!

Where is this site parked to yield so high revenue?

Porno.com, one of his more modest domain names, makes $1 million a year on its own."

"It gets 25,000 to 30,000 visitors every single day of the year, 365 days a year," Schwartz says. "You could set your watch to it."

TrafficClub (Skenzo feed)

It is by far the best place to park adult domains. I have several parked there making $1k/month and before only making $300/month at Sedo. I'm pretty sure Rick parks all his adult names there (A$$.com, etc.)

I wonder how much damage the .xxx extension will hurt the porn.com's value.

Absolutely no effect on it at all.

Porn.com > Porn.xxx, period. B-)

If it not sold, he should start some serious business with this domain. Definitely life changer even it won't sold for years.

Think about it.

If someone experienced like Rick S is selling at min $5 Mio reserve (and it's not a fire sale), who is more likely to get the better deal - buyer or seller...

As for all the rubber-neckers talking fantasy figures - easier said than done when using fantasy dollars and it's not your money.

First of all, Rich Shwartz doesn't own Porn.com. So maybe before you speak out of your behind, do some 30 second research first.

Secondly, many of us here are very good at calculating values of domains. Just because Rich Shwartz registered a few domains in the early 90s doesn't mean he's very experienced in the reseller market.

I can put my money down on 20 people here off the top of my head that have more experience than Rick Shwartz from what I seen.

Jeez..... it was not my post, but who made you domain pope?

What an insolent, rude response. Are you that high and mighty here that you put down other posters any time someone makes a mistake. I hope you never make a mistake, b/c I 'll be there to check you on it.

You act as though you are better at domaining then just about every one else. Does that make you feel better about yourself? I could sit around here and brag about having started before 99% of you guys and gals, but I don't, my "superior" domain valuation models, but I don't, etc....... Try to avoid the "Disease of Conceit"- it'll do you good. You must be new to money, b/c that is usually how new money acts.

BTW .... what ever happened to your Domain Parking platform that was to be released in Feb? Did you make a mistake on saying it would be Feb. 07?

Thanks seabass, couldn't have said it better myself.
When the typo/grammar/semantic police come the argument is already lost.

Anyway back to the poster.
Name the 20 here more experienced than Rick S.
Name the members here who have sold a domain for > $1 M + (men, com).

Hard to take seriously the "valuation model" someone born in 1988(?), a johnny-come-lately in 2006 throwing around $20M fantasy dollars, "worth $20M to a reseller" LOL.
In terms of internet time, still swimming in your biological father's nutsac when many were already buying domains.

And the argument still stands: if a bunch of experienced adult webmasters don't think they could make it work for $5M (assuming real bid) let alone $20M, then hard to see how a domainer would based on nothing more than "better PPC", increased future PPC or selling to a "greater fool" theory...
I would also assume the holder of porn, com would know more about valuation than someone like you.

And when you live in a $1 M++ apartment free and clear and know the value of $1 M - instead of living with mommy - come back.

Thanks for the laugh. :hehe:

Anyway, peace to you.

He does (or did) own Porno.com, however.

Let's keep the debate rational and not emotional everyone; this is, after all, a business forum.

I'm wondering should there be Affiliate links be embedded into Porn.com instead of only PPC links (Or are there already Aff links embedded?)... if it would have a negative impact or positive effect revenue wise?

I mean Porn.com could yield a hell of a lot of joins each day!
Makes me wonder though...

Well, part of that question is whether you'd work with a search feed provider or a bunch of adult entertainment companies directly. For me, it's the former. In terms of revenue maximization, an efficient PPC system should provide close to the expected CPA payout in aggregate, depending on the quality of the traffic, of course.

Would be a hell of an experiment ;)
As of now every link on the front page leads to a second page presenting PPC links so i have a feeling every 9 out of ten will probably click the PPC link.

Depending on the amount each click yields it's probably more should you embed aff links.

Although i see an opportunity to maximize the potential to the fullest.
By incorporating aff links into the PPC links.

How this should be done technically? Not my cup of tea but i do have a feeling you could set up a tracking system to not only receive revenue for a click but also for a join at the same time.

25K to 30K of steady targetted traffic for something (Porn) that is never going to go away and will always be something that will receive the attention it gets must be enough incentive to build a custom advertiser network and partnership.

It does goes beyond a Google or Smartfind feed but it will be well worth the trouble in the end. Or build a partnership with above PPC providers since they have the knowhow in place.

A PPC link that will at the same time be an Aff link that can A: give credit for the click and B: if a join takes place give credit for that as well.
With this much potent (No pun intended) traffic a solution like this is quite interesting to research since it has the potential to yield so much more revenue if set up.

I think this is also an interesting set up for general PPC feeds.
For sites with a substantial amount of traffic.

Just putting down some ideas here...:)

Damion,

I think Google's smart pricing is beginning to move more toward that direction. Slowly but surely leads will enter into a stronger portion of PPC.

That's very interesting, come to think of it i did read something about this a while back but totally forgot about it.
Can be a welcome new addition for some but for others the opposite.

Traffic used to be king. Now, quality traffic is king. Domain markets follow a similar trajectory to valuation in many other industries...it's interesting.

I'm wondering how soon this will be implemented?

For Google, it is being incorporated via smart pricing. So, rather than giving a larger marginal payout when a click converts, the system gives you a quality score based on the ratio of conversions to clicks, and adjusts your PPC accordingly.
