Which letter is the worst one?

Ladies & Gentleman ,

as you all know (or should know) , the GREAT event is coming.

The LLLL.com are ending and day by day what is left is not what people would register 1 year ago. But now, we do.

So, in the attempt to give an international point of view , I`d like to run this poll to establish which letter is the worst one , after the Q.

People should understand that this is not as easy at it seems since many members like myself come from a non English background and despite NP is a big community , the use of English as main language is already cutting off a large population of the world like the Chinese for example that seems to use a lot o f worst letters when they use LLLL.com

Anyway....come on, please VOTE !

Thank you

Woah! This is not as easy as it first sounds! Like you say not all people who use domains speak english and what may seem like a poor letter to some may be great to other's. Having considered this I have made my choice...

I'm surprised with the results..
I always considered 'Z' as a good letter...I know, I know..not from an abbreviational point of view, but from a phonetic pov
it has a nice ring to it...especially if its the first or the third letter

I guess nothing is worse than X. Practically un-pronounceable and very difficult to fit in an acronym :\

I thought about X but this is widely used in China, the most populated country in the world right now!!!
I also agree with sashas about the Z.

I voted X, but I actually don't believe Q is the worst letter as originally stated in the post. In many cases I'd rather have Q than X or K. There aren't a lot of dictionary words that start with Q, but the few there are a few very good ones (Quick, Quality, Qualify, Quest, Quite, Quotes, Queen, etc). For location acronyms they work well for Quebec, Queensland, Qatar, etc. One of these letters isn't all that bad, it's multiples that make things difficult.

Don't be too quick to quash the quality of domains with Q. Your quest for domains might find quite a quantity quickly if you query your queue correctly. You may quietly quote me on this quaint sentence without quarrel if you qualify where you quoted from. Don't quote me, and a quarterback may visit and qualify you as a quadriplegic of quantum proportions by stuffing you into a quart quinine bottle. I'll now quit this quirky quizzical quote before some quack wraps me in a quilt with a quarter ton of quartz and throws me in quicksand.

I'd say "Z". Of course, it really depends where the letter is in the domain.

I'm going with V. I am a big fan of some brandable domains with the letter V in it and domains that include the letters V&C together. I base the decision because 38% of the remaining 4 letter domains (by todays DYYO stats) have a V in it. Table below.

Q isn't all bad. BOOQ.com recently sold for $10,000US. There are often underated domains in areas people avoid. In June 2005, I was criticised for registering the only CVCV.com (that didn't include a Y) that I ever got because it started with a Q. Now I realise that selling for $29 was as great a deal as I thought it was 3 months later.

Letter Number Available % of Available
j 3724 18.5%
k 3335 16.5%
q 10576 52.5%
u 3641 18.1%
v 7736 38.4%
w 3285 16.3%
x 5299 26.3%
y 3334 16.5%
z 5678 28.2%

well, Q has been always indicated as the worst letter , despite even in non English alphabet is present , like in the italian one.

If other people feel that there is a worst letter than Q than please let us know.

I agree on the X, in the italian alphabet we don`t have: J-K-X-Y-W

so I`d choose X even between Q and X.

But, what it matters here is the majority of votes.

I chose Z. X can be short for anything starting with Ex such as Exchange, plus at the beginning of a 4-letter with a vowel afterwards, it can arguably make a z sound. Z may be decent at the end of a word in place of s for a plural, but it's HORRIBLE for acronyms and in general doesn't have any coolness to it except for that S -> Z use.
