Aleksandr G. Lukashenko is often called the last dictator in Europe. He does enjoy some public popularity, but won yesterday's presidential election in Belarus by an impossible 82.6%. International election observers are saying that the election was rigged, and The European Union is threatening sanctions. Russia, who openly supports Lukashenko, is calling the election not only fair, but a true representation of the will of the people.
Yesterday thousands of people protested in the streets of Minsk despite offical threats by the state police, (still called the K.G.B.) that anyone caught protesting would be arrested. So far the police have kept a low profile surrounding the demonstrators, but no violence has yet been reported.
I am offering BelarusRevolution.com for sale. I had intented to do a political blog, but other things have been taking up too much of my time.
It is registered at Godaddy and doesn't expire until 2/26/2007.
Please post offers below, let's go ahead and start with $20. If you really want this name, PM me and I'm sure we can work something out.
Peace,
Jake
