If Im not wrong, .bs has a registration fee of $500 & renewal fee of $100.

But then, In the end all that matters is finding the right buyer!

.bs was also for the Bahamas, which I think definitely affected the sale price.

Damitssam is right, $1,500+ if the buyer doesn't look up the reg fees. Possibly more than $1,500 if the right buyer comes along, but $1,500 - $2,000 makes for a pretty quick sale with Poker.ext names.

I'm curios to see how much the offer was for too..

Well, yea its difficult to sell these names to resellers & hard to find end-users.
Add "at the seller's price point" to that statement and it could be applied to 99.9%+ of all registered names that are available for sale.

"Poker" is an, exceptionally, strong keyword in an, exceptionally, strong ecommerce sector. Despite, the, obscure ext and the pricey renewal fee, the high profile of the keyword makes this an attractive domain and the odds of finding an enduser are well above averege. The only risk elements attached to this name, that I can see, are: 1)the high outlay for an investment in a single domain, (which is relative) and 2) the renewal fee, which will, undoubtably, decrease the size of the pool of potential buyer's, but will not detract from the quality of the the pool or the endusers that reside in it.

On the surface, spending $700 to register a single domain name may seem like risky business, however, $700 dollars invested in this name poses less of a risk factor than, what the risk of spending $700 for a group gaming names that are currently available for registration would be and, the return on dollar invested is better than or equal to what the averege return would be if the $700 were used to purchase a poker name in the current aftermarket. :imho:

thanks for your view point there. i have searched every extension and this was the only freely available poker name i could find. i honestly cant see this going for less than $1,000 but i suppose im a bit biased. The sedo offer i received was probably from someone on namepros as i have not talked about it anywhere else before the offer was made, so i will reveal the price he/she offered in due course, but wasnt much more than "reg fee"

Thanks guys

Agreed. The point I wanted to make was this. Poker.ext names with less renewal fee have a higher probability of selling for a better price than the one with high renewal fee - considering that both .exts are comparable (both cctld's countries dont/do have casinos).

Getting a good sale is POSSIBLE.. But less Probable.

But then, Who knows.. If Bill Gates feels he has to get specifically Poker.ki!?! :hehe: As Grilla said, if a casino likes the domain, they wont mind throwing in money you desire!

Several buyers make regular searches of new entries at Sedo and other listing sites ao the bid may or may not have come from a participant in this thread.

I'm not singling out this thread or anyone participating in it, in particular, but I do have a generic, cautionary comment to make relating to your post, above, which is primarily, addressed to any newbs who may be tuned in.

Domaining is a business and there are unethical, disingenuous domainers who will give a low, below market appraisal and make negative comments about a name to mislead and misdirect the owner, solely, for the purpose of serving their own agenda. nuff said.

I assume that this is not the case in this thread but, nevertheless, I've seen this happen more than once in the past and your comment did bring this low-life practice to mind.

Agreed. It depends upon what denominator is being used to factor the equation- ie is the comparison being made w/ poker.cctld's, strong poker names, or poker names that are avail for reg?

Hehe. Sedo is not going to love seeing the latter part of that post, kevmacmeh. [cough-cough hint-hint] (which I have not quoted in my response, BTW.

Well we're talking about pure Poker.cctlds. Nothing else. I've recently sold Poker.gp & Poker.ug. Still have Poker.uz.

Anyways buddy. Good luck with the name! Giving opinions here brings me bad name! Shdnt touch this appraisal section unless you gonna give top appraisal for a name!

oh...how clumsy of me. I love sedo and i think the costs they charge are very fair and the service is second to none ;)

Excuse me? Perhaps, I'm misreading your comment, (which comes across as short, dismissive and abrupt), and maybe I am missing something, here, but I could have sworn that the topic had been expanded upon by the OP.

Huge renewal fees, I don't think you'll get much more than low $XXXX.

Who cares, that's still a ton!

I was hoping that I had read that wrong. I've just made a few minor adjustments to interface w/ your discourse style and, henceforth, everything should be just peachy. :hehe: Excuse the interruption.
I have a 2 keyword, poker .cc domain listed at Great Domains, that I've just begun to proactively market and this has been a very informative and, useful thread for me. Tx all.
