Hello,

I'm working on a project to help better understand the value relations between google results and the actual value a domain sells for. In my experiment I'm testing a theory that there is a connection and it can be valued, but I need to find some examples of .ORG domains that sold for more then the .NET.

Currently LLL.NET and LLL.ORG, the LLL.NET sells for more? But why, .NET has less google returns for sites then .ORG? My theory is the end users, who are the buyers of .ORG domains, and who are the buyers of .NET and .COM. For example, business would tend to want to buy .COM, .NET because it's generalized, while .ORG pertains to a group or non-profit related businesses or site, and so sales value of these TLD's despite it's popularity would drop.

With this in mind, an example of a .ORG site selling for more then a .NET site of the same name would prove my idea, that good use of the .ORG can prove to create a sale greater then the .NET, and even furthermore, if someone can find examples of .ORG businesses that found a better use of the .ORG then .NET, that would be great for this experiment to analyse the results.

Thanks so much, $NP for help!

Casino Casino sc $3,392

All domains were sold within this year of 2006 to keep it more accurate.

I've pasted the above information to help add to this concept. Data was taken by typing CASINO at DNSALEPRICE.COM to get comparable sales data.

When examining the different names and there google results versus what they sold for we find some interesting patterns.

Type "Site:.TLD" to get a count for all the sites on google

Casino.com -> $5,500,000->14,200,000,000 Google Results*
Casino.Info -> $35,127->113,000,000 Google Results*
Casino.hk -> $15,000 -> 30,200,000 Google Results*
Casino.io -> $6,300 -> 287,000 Google Results*
Casino.sc -> $3,392 -> 644,000 Google Results*
Casino.nr ->$1,090 -> 515,000 Google Results*
Casino.pn -> $315-> 103,000 Google Results*

While some of the values vary below on casino, there is no doubt that TLD's with greatly more goolge results definently yeilded much greater returns then names without. This is useful to prove my idea that TLD value can be connected to google results for more accurate estimation of prices on domain names*

For sake of argument I also tested the name 'POKER'

My goal is to look for any corelation in google results versus the sell price of the TLD's with the same name connected to it, and to also see if there is a basic corelation with the oddities; (that is domains that sold for more despite google results). Then to find out, of just the oddity domains, why those domains with the TLD selected sold for a higher sale price despite results, what might knock them out of the trend?

Poker.pr -> $1,500 -> 1,030,000
Poker.ma ->$1,200 -> 3,450,000
Poker.pro ->$2,427 -> 198,000
Poker.bs ->$3,600 -> 432,000
Poker.pk ->$2,250 -> 4,350,000
Poker.tc ->$1,575 -> 1,440,000
Poker.vc ->$1,655 -> 216,000
Poker.sh ->$1,500 -> 479,000
Poker.in ->$2,650 -> 28,400,000**
Poker.md ->$2,000 -> 4,460,000**
Poker.gs ->$1,500 -> 613,000**

*NOTE all domains were sold in 05-06, domains with a ** by it sold in 05*

Looking at these results is interesting, the one that sold for the most was poker.bs for $3,600 with only 432,000 results on sites that use the name? Speculator, Random Chance? Or Other Factors at play? You make the call.

Poker.in is the second highest selling poker name with $2,650 but with 28 million results! greatly more then it's close in sale price counterparts. What might make this name drop in value, or is it where it belongs? Why would a name with so much more demand on it, be only worth $200 more then the .PRO with insignificant results? Could it be the country it's in, political factors, who are the buyers behind the different TLD's? Or perhaps my theory that the use of the TLD can make a difference on it's sell price. Perhaps not only the use of the TLD, but it's market shares and reach. Maybe it's just that since it was in 05, the value of poker related demains has gone up? If it has by how much? It could also be the registration fee's of the TLD's, if it costs a lot to renew the price may drop considerably for certain names despite google results.

I'll be investigating all of the results from poker and casino which were chosen purely for convienice because the sales data was easy to find with many TLD sales making them perfect canidates for this experiment. I just wish there was more data to work with.

What do you make of this data?
