I am posted it here - I may have posted in another wrong thread. So, here it goes... Pay per Click or impression or monthly ads how are they tracked?

How does one control/monitor either via a tool, control panel or whatever other means to monitor ads that you are selling on your own site?

If I sell them weekly or monthly on page, how shall I accept auto payment and when the month is about to expire, an email goes out that it is to expire to the advertiser and to yourself?
Or, after 'n' # of clicks, it expires (if ppc)
Or, impressions.

so, how can one track it on their site if they aren't one of the larger fish in the sea? Any tips, advice?

I want to create 2-3 sites and be able to sell ads spaces and wondering how can that be done automatically?

The best would be to store each hit in a mysql database and update it each time someone clicks the link. Then you would check that when it reaches a certain amount, a mail is sent, etc. It is not too difficult to set up if you know some proper basic PHP and MySQL.

first of all, thank you for replying. Your comments gives me some direction. I needed some direction and can then have someone develop/design it for me but I needed to understand the basics and get a good overview understanding of it and go use the best approach.
