Ok folks. Bit of a strange one.
I fairly recently (6 months ago) acquired a domain that I plan to use for an ecommerce site here in the UK.
Naturally, I plan for it to be sucessfull and with luck I may get some custom from other countries in time.
here's the kicker (I usually always google the name, but I was racing I guess..!)
The name is actually a small town in the Democratic republic of Congo... (for example - *but not* Isiro.com )
Luckily I haven't started using the name yet, but I am about to.
It is also the name of a watering hole in kenya!! (which doesn't concern me)
I cant find any record of it being trademarked, not surprisingly. But could there be claims in the future in the event the website became succesfull? Is it possible for a country to trademark a place name??
many Thanks
