thanks once more, but i have seen around about 15 or so olympic games domains sell in the past 3-4 months, while i have seen a larger number unsold most of them were not as keyword rich as these ones. The majority of the sales were for medium 3 figures and even some for larger 4 figure sums... i find it hard to believe that these where all one off sales?
may i ask how much you would value lets say olympicgames2012.info for?
Thanks again!
The point isn't whether or not you may luck into a sale of one of your names; the point is that they're trademark-based names, and to try profit off someone else's trademark is illegal.
First, yes a lot of people still register trademark names.
Second, many of them get Cease & Desist letters; some of them actually get sued.
Third, many of them don't ever get caught.
Fourth, occasionally, some of them even sell the trademark-based name for a profit.
Now, in the above statements substitute 'deal drugs' for 'trademarked names' and maybe you'll get what we're saying. It's illegal, but a lot of people do it. Some get away with it, some actually make a lot of money, many get caught, either before or after making money at it.
What you're in effect saying is 'Sure, it's illegal, but other people look like they're making money from it, so why can't I try too?'
The answer is: on this forum, we're always going to advise you not to do it. There's no point in putting a TM name up for appraisal, we're gonna give you the same answer every time: zero value, and high possibility of problems. Registering TM names isn't in the same class as dealing drugs of course, but they are both designated 'illegal'. Your asking for an appraisal, is like asking us to put an appraisal on something that's against the law to own. We can only say 'It's against the law to own that; get rid of it'.
Most of us used to have a few TM names, myself included, but in the last few years laws (and consequences) have really tightened up, and also domaining 'ethics' have kicked into a higher gear to give us serious domainers more cred and respect...
Make your own choices. Personally - and this isn't a moral judgement - I say it isn't worth it, in any way, to risk having a TM-based name; just not a good business decision
Welcome to the forum, good luck here
