Hi- I have been a domainer for many years but instead of trading, I mostly just aquired names to develop rather than selling them so it would be nice to hear everyone elses thoughts. I realize there are many names on the list so feel free to just appraise whichever ones you want. Thanks! :)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
love your film names (maybe thats because I'm a film student). FilmArchive.org, IndieFilms.net, IndieFilmFestival.org...all great names.

All your names are good otherwise too...some brandables in there, but they're not bad...I don't like the ones with the hyphens though...they kill the name

Those are nice domains. Where did you buy them and how much did you pay for each one of them? Cheers.

Hi- thanks guys. I have been a domainer since 2000 so most were hand registered back then. I transfered registrars so not sure if it reflects how actually old they are in the whois record or not. Have not checked. The restof them were backordered though Snapnames 3 or 4 years ago before they went to an auction system, back when the little guy could actually get something good if you noticed it first. Appreciate the comments, keep them coming. Regards-

Undeveloped most of these domains have no real value. Maybe low $xx on them at very best ... especially your .ORGs which are worth reg fee. I think your best best is if you don't want to develop them is to sell them as a lot, maybe get $650 for all of them.

Honestly the one or two good domains you MIGHT have in the lot is devalued greatly by being associated with the rest of the crap domains - sort of a guilt by association kind of thing.

GREEDYBITCH.COM might have some development potential but it gets lost in the sea of crap you have listed with it and over looked.

My advice is ....

a) Don't group unrelated domain names together again for valuation. It will greatly devalue the entire lot as a result.

b) stop regging .ORGs. They are a waste of your money. Seriously.

c) You have 20000 zillion "film" related domain names. Clearly it is your interest, so do something with that passion and develop a family of film related sites already and increase the value on at least some of the domain names.

.orgs aren't exactly worthless, and they work well with your names. IndieFilmFestival.org is perfect with the .org

I treat .org as the second best extension after .com (.net seems like a poor man's .com. Not a good image to carry with your website, IMO). It has a sense of trust and respectability about it

Hi Kelli- thanks for your outlook. I appreciate any and all opinions. I understand what you mean about the .org's but on the other hand premiumdomains.com gave for example featurefilm.org a score of 486 and accepted it for listing there so not sure they agree with your evaluation but in this business I understand opinions differ.

As for grouping the bad in with the good. I would imagine an experienced domainer can weed out the bad and discern which are the best. That is after all the nature of this business in a nutshell.

Keep em coming. I am interested to hear everyones thoughts.

Thanks :)

I have read lots of opinions to that effect at NP and elsewhere, but see few hard facts to support the arguments. At this point in the evolution of domain name usage and sales I don't think anyone really has much insight into future value trends.

Nice domains...

How much traffic have you seen?

They all get traffic to one extent or another. For the last year I have been redirecting them to my developed sites for extra traffic and SEO benefit so I dont have individual stats on them but they all get type-ins. I just switched thier nameservers over to Sedo yesterday so you can look them up but keep in mind when it says "traffic in the last 30 days" , that is really 24 hours, not 30 days-

Actually, I should have mentioned- about 25% of them HAVE been developed at one time or another. Many have lots of backlinks etc. and are in Google and greedybitch.com that you mention specifically is actually a PR 2. It's not going to show that if you check it because it is being redirected but many of these domains have tons of backlinks etc. I just dont have the time to go through and list the stats for them all, which is the whole reason I am going to sell many of them since I simply have no time.

Hi Srisri24, thanks. See- I dont even have time to list the attributes of each and every one, thats why I am going to sell them but for example just on that one name you mentioned- there are a ton of really respectable sites using the term "Film Archive" like the Academy Awards - www.oscars.org/filmarchive/index.html , Harvard University was using www.harvardfilmarchive.org/ but switched to a directory just recently, UCLA - www.cinema.ucla.edu/ , the Country of New Zealand - www.filmarchive.org.nz/ , Berkely - www.bampfa.berkeley.edu/

All those and way too many to mention use the term: Film Archive with Google showing 141 Million results: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=film+archive&btnG=Google+Search and Feature Film showing 109 Million results: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=feature+film but according to that girl .org's are worthless LOL

I think maybe when it comes to domainers and appraisals, most dont really know anything about any particular industry so everyone relies on Overture because in truth they really dont have a depth of knowledge on a particular subject which I dont mean to gripe because I asked for and welcome all opinions good or bad so I appreciate everyones time who goes out of thier way to post but somehow I think when it comes to artistic businesses they miss the larger point. For example something tells me that Robert Redford - a multimillionare many times over could surely afford sundance.com - which is just some crummy site about something else but uses sundance.org instead.

Sure, cars.org is lousy as a site for a commercial car dealership but in the film world, even if the buyer is not non-profit people many times prefer .org

As for eurekadirectory.com - I like that one too- I was planning on making a directory site and think it is perfect because "Eureka" literally means "I have found it" as in Eureka!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_(word)

"Eureka (Greek "I have found it") is an exclamation used as an interjection to celebrate a discovery."

and there are many search engines and directories using variants of that name like http://www.gocee.com/eureka/ not to mention the fact that there are several tows in the USA called Eureka.

But to go through and list all this info for each name I just dont have time to do...

Ayway, thanks to everyone for your opinions, good or bad, I do appreciate everyones comments, please keep them coming.

Just curious, how much you are expecting for each of your domains, is there any site where your portfolio is listed with price?

Hi srisri - no, I dont have them listed anywhere with specific prices. Like I said since I got into buying domains since 2000-2001, I always did so with the intention to develop them and not sell them. The only times I have is when someone was persistent and basically offered me too much money to refuse so I never spent much time or energy thinking up prices really which is partly the reason for this thread just to get some outside opinions.

I will try to go through and think up prices for them maybe in the next few days possibly but it's hard to really just pull a figure out of the air for any of them but I am definitely going to sell because I simply dont have the time to develop them all, so best I could say for now is if you are interested in any is just to make me an offer. In general I would probably be more receptive to someone buying the whole portfolio so I dont have to deal with selling each name and would offer a better price that way but will consider individual sales as well.
