Well, there's a US-based site which appears up and running - so could it 'fly' in the UK?
I like 'dot' names, but they do sound a bit awkward when spoken with the "www(dot)" at the beginning. However, most browsers now don't need the www. typing, so this is less of a problem than it once was.
