To be honest, I don't think there is a lively market for .jp domains. Not to mention that they are expensive for speculation purposes.
But maybe somebody more experienced will chime in.

Usually it's best to pair a keyword with an extension that actually matches the language. I owned mortgages.dk which was pretty much dead weight so I dropped it. It's a killer keyword but the fact that it's an English with a Danish extension made it worthless.

I don't know much about .JP domains as investments, since I haven't owned any.

But I do advise focusing on words in the same language as would be spoken in the country of the ccTLD.

Since we are talking about ccTLDs:
.dk domains => you are not allowed to buy them for resale afaik
.jp domains => I'm not aware of any such restrictions but it doesn't matter since they don't seem to sell so often

ccTLDs are specialized markets, they are all different and make sure you are familiar with the rules.

What works in .com doesn't automatically work well in another extension, especially in foreign languages.

See? I didn't know this and I've been domaining for awhile. This right here is proof that regging ccTLDs can be a bit risky when you don't know the rules. Just recently I learned that changing Whois info on a .ca domain locks it for 30 days.
