In 2006 - 2009 it was a very popular link shortening service like tinyurl but mine has a tracking/stats capabilities so most of shortlinks were created by internet marketers. But, as they say, the IT-specialist's life is divided into two parts: before the dead hard drive, and after. One snowy day I had a complete database crash, and in full accordance with Murphy's Law, that same day I had a serious car accident - the site was closed as it was a one-person project.
A bit later most of the registered customers were notified by email that service is closed. Also I did my best to restore most of active redirect URLs (from email notifications that I got per every registered shortlink) and kept them working during the last four years. I am not a Duncan MacLeod having thousands of years ahead, so, I think my mission is now over and I decided to sell this domain as I am not involved in the internet marketing anymore, just ocassionally do some custom programming.
Traffic and backlinks
As it was a popular link shortening service, the domain is still having thousands of backlinks even after the service has been discontinued. The domain's shortlinks still getting over 300.000 hits a month (avg 4.000 to 12.000 a day) from top search engine crawlers and over 14.000 real visitors a month (avg 300 to 600 a day) - and this is a site that during the last four years has just one page saying it is shut down. You can search web.archive.org to see what and when it was. My webserver configured to keeping the last 90 days access logs so you can see actual statistics yourself. What can you do with this domain?
Sure you can reincarnate it as a link shortening service, but if I had a free time and good enought English skills I would create a kind of product reviews site reviewing various products and linking to them with affiliate link. The domain name suits that very well, you can even make a logo something like a yellow sticky note with "http://www..." on it pinned to the wall. You can run it using wordpress or other CMS. Just pick a link from the list I provide you along with domain, find a product at clickbank (for example), create a page with permalink for that link address, make a short product review, link to it with your affiliate link. Repeat this ten times a day or more - and within a month you will get strong sales.
The best part is you don't have to do the hardest thing - you don't need to promote your site, as you already having over 32.000 link addresses with aged backlinks and hardly spidered by search engine crawlers. All you have to do is picking a popular address from that list and create a simple page. Also, as I told at the beginning, 95% of service users were internet marketers promoting affiliate products. Do you see the potential?
