The last few days I have tried to do a simple search on the social media accounts of several big tech companies.
I found a similar pattern, they use of shortlinks:
Blackrock use 1blk.co,
Google: goo.gle,
Microsoft: Msft.it
Paypal: payp.al
LinkedIn: Lnkd.in
OpenAI: Chatg.pt,
Nvidia: Nvda.ws
Oracle: Ora.cl
And etc
Some names are so unfamiliar that they don't identify anything structurally. For example, Blackrock uses 1blk.co, SalesForce use sforce.co which is actually longer and more ambiguous than the main domain.
So, what is their real purpose in using shortlinks and why not maintain brand alignment on the main domain?
If this is not a fad and has a clear purpose, then this could be a great opportunity for domainer groups because form shortlinks is always outside in the area of cybersquotting.
For example, i found ( dpsk.ee ) I'm still weighing whether this will catch their attention. But betting on a gray area with specific market potential is always a tough bet.
So what do you think about shortlink guys?
