Perfect for companies owning offices and/or doing business in Japan as well as for Japanese websites. Your thoughts/appraisals will be well seen.

Big time TM issues on this domain.

negative value once you add in (or better said: subtract out) litigation costs. Even if you sell at a profit, you can be sued later.

even if there isn't any notion of competitive ads or anything else to do with the company?

With a totally unique recognizable trademark like that yes.

It would be the same with Pepsi, or other made up words like that. But, a TM like Apple can have other uses.

How would it gain any value without some kind of ads or popularity with search engines ? Would not both of these pick up on the keyword ? Also its usage has restrictions for potential buyer.

i have it optimized for "japanese businesses," how does that infringe on the trademark registered in USA? I receive a few offers/week for it so I'm assuming it has potential uses. As far as "litigation issues," does it really concern ME how the buyer uses the domain?

Believe me, Pfizer is known in every nation, and I am sure they have the legal backing to prove it.

PfizerJapan.com is especially bad because the domain itself is trying to make it look like a division of Pfizer in Japan. The only value to this domain would be based on the Pfizer TM.

Even though eBay is a trademark, something like LearnEbay.com is a lot less infringing than EbayIndia.com, due to the nature of it.

Yes, it does concern you in some way. Like your reputation.

Pfizer is too big to mess with, plus repetation is a big deal in pharmaceuticals

Thanks for the responses. Much appreciated! It's funny how registrars just let you buy, park, list domains without any red flags...

Last question, even if I won't have any website or parking on it, and I flip the domain, would I get pursued legally?

Possibly. But, I don't think any offer you will get will be high enough to be worth the potential problems.

The big difference is that Pfizer is a "famous mark". Some of the "minor marks" you may be able to play the "different category" game, but not with a famous mark. Whether they choose to sue *after* a sale is totally up to them (since you would have profited from their good name). And as pointed out above, the pharmaceutical companies are particularly eager to protect their marks.

Your reputation stays with you for life. How you conduct your business may be used against you in court... particularly if there is a pattern of flagrant abuse of intellectual property law.
