Peter Jackson to produce 'The Hobbit Movie(s)

Lord of the Rings producer Peter Jackson has announced that he will be producing The Hobbit, scheduled for 2009 release. In addition, it appears there will be a sequel, shot simultaneously, due for release in 2011.

Great news for fans of Middle Earth! I am already wondering what the sequel will be.

I guess we could get LoTR Uncut and Uncensored. Followed by the silver, gold, and platinum versions of the dvd set. By that time it might even be the 20 year anniversary of the first movie so you start the whole cycle over again.

After a very disappointing King Kong and some other weak follow ups to LOTR, it's the logical thing to return to his roots for success.
Definitely something to watch for and see how WETA has improved over the years.

king kong was not a bad movie.. and for "the hobbit" to be released in a movie should be something fairly interesting.

I can't wait. The hobbit would make a great Movie. It's quite simple and straightforward for the most part. Don't know what the sequel would be though...perhaps some of the lost writing stuff.

I just hope its good. I really was a huge fan of the Hobbit.
