Just for my future safety, I see a lot of members don't accept paypal payments from non-verified paypal account holders and insist on escrow or something similar... why is this? surely if the person with the non-verified account makes the payment into your paypal account thats the money safe with you isn't it, regardless if the account is verified or not?

What am I missing?

Thanks, Mike

the backcharge process. all they need to do is cancell their cc, and paypal will automatically take their side!

its happend to me before! IF your verified, you can then know this persons address is right and take some sorta action agains them! else they can give ANY bogus address / name!

wow! thanks domain4u, I didn't know that... even if the money has been transfered into your paypal account? what happens if you transfer the money straight into your bank account - do paypal come after the cash?

Who do you recommend instead of paypal?

Escrow is recommended either with Sedo or Afternic own services or escrow.com. However the costs are too high for low price sales, and therefore paypal IS appropriate for cheap sales on namepros and afternic bazaar. Alternatively if youcan accept NP$.

Anybody just write up a binding contract and have the purchasher send a check or money order? Is that a good way for a transaction or to many things that could go wrong?

Risky still, depending on where the parties reside.
