I received the email below from Paypal a few days ago. I've received a million fake emails and they're usually easy to spot. And even though this one looks good there's something about the way it's put together that doesn't look or sound like PayPal.

I'm reasonably sure it's legit ... no misspellings and they spelled "received" correctly. Still, something about it spooked me. I'm wary of anything that is just a little smelly. Maybe I just need to ease back on the caffeine .....

Has anyone and everyone received this from PayPal?

Dear Charles Lowe,

We are writing to notify you that your PayPal Debit MasterCard® will soon expire. To ensure your new card is properly received, we need your assistance in verifying your current address.

For security reasons, we cannot send the debit card to a PO Box address. This means if you have a PO Box as your address, you will need to provide a physical address for shipment of your card.

To prevent any delays in receiving your PayPal Debit MasterCard®, please verify your current address by November 10, 2011. To verify your current address, simply complete the following steps:

Log in to your PayPal account.
Click Profile near the top of the page.
Click My Money.
Click Update, which is located beside PayPal Debit MasterCard®.
Review the address we have listed for you. If the address is incorrect or outdated, click Change and follow the instructions.
Please Note - Your replacement debit card will be sent in a plain white envelope to the address listed in our records. Please allow approximately four weeks for delivery.

We value your business and regret any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have any questions, please contact us at 866-888-6080.

Sincerely,

PayPal Debit Card Customer Solutions

The best way to find out is just to call Paypal. (Make sure you call the right number.)

Good Luck! %%-

I never access ANYTHING through an email. Actually I'm paranoid about key loggers.

If you do have a paypal debit card, check the date. If it is going to expire within the next couple months then this is prob legit. Paypal does send emails regarding obtaining a new card. Just log into your account (securely), it should have a notification if your card is due to expire soon.
