Hello All,

Does anyone get prompted to verify either their credit card number or bank account number when changing your password on your PayPal account or have you ever in the past? I clicked to change my password yesterday and had to enter either my credit card number or bank account number to verify that I was the account holder. Anyone else had this before?

For security purposes they make you verify yourself before you make any major changes within your Paypal account. This usually includes changing the primary email address, the password, credit card or banking information and sometimes even for adding access levels so other people can log in.

With all the spam/fraud/scams that circulate involving Paypal, it's a good thing they do this. Otherwise if someone happened to log into your paypal account, they can't change the password on you without having to know more than just your paypal pswrd. If it's your paypal account, it shouldn't be any big deal and takes only seconds to input the information they're asking for.

(At least they don't seem to restrict accounts as much as they used to)

I got that when trying to remove 2 emails... thing is I input my CC Info and it says its wrong... LOL

Yeah says I have 2 more tries then my account will be locked....

Yeah, and unlocking is a pain.. you have to fax them loads of information, including a photo ID.. even if you had already done this previously, they'll want it again.. and if you fail to respond and unlock it, it moves from "limited" to "restricted" and then .. well, all we can say is.. good luck

What is worrying you?

I wasn't worried about it just thought I'd see if anyone else has had too as I changed my password a few times in the past and didn't have to verify anything. Must be a procedure that's fairly recent.

i guess the extra precaution is a hassle, but that would make out accounts safer!

its a bit like the tight security check at the airport, on my last trip we had to take of our shoes and belts during a stop-over in australia
