You seem rather calm for that much money being gone. Best of luck.

Why anyone would keep that amount of money sitting in their PayPal account considering the horror stories is beyond me. I would have called them right away without thinking.

Are you sure that someone did stole that funds or was it not Paypal itself by doing a little "freezing" your money?
Even when you call them, Paypal does have already an answer for this cases, even when you haven´t asked them yet.
Next time try not to have more than $ 100 on your account for security reasons.
Take care :)

i think you can Chargeback since to 60 days after payment .

You can only chargeback when the funds were from your own credit card, if there were own funds on that account ( I guess this is the case) than that funds are gone.
Take care next time. :)

are you sure? because I have heard many stories of people that have gotten their money back even if it didn't origin from their CC. But I guess getting back money that was taken from your CC is easier because then you have to places you can ask for chargeback (PayPal + your bank)

I agree with Tippy, Once my paypal reaches a certain cap it goes straight to my bank account. I don't trust them to hold my money at all.

Also emailing them is a waste of time especially for that amount of money get on the phone and get proactive.

My mother had a hacker get into her paypal. She had use a follow through link sent via email and didnt realize it was a phising site.

But either way she called. And they dont send emails. My mother and Paypal had serveral callbacks on the topic of the money in her paypal account.

At what point do you guys transfer to your bank? Wouldn't that be annoying to wait 3-4 days every time to get the money out to make a payment..

Yeah I never keep more than $1k in my paypal (or less) and even the bank account attached to paypal I only keep a small amount in. My main banking accounts are NOT linked to paypal or the internet in general. I use an internet bank and paypal as buffer zones from my regular assets. If they get compromised I don't lose thousands.

Anyways...explain how you had thousands in the account. I am always skeptical about peoples stories about paypal ripping them off. For all we know....he got a bogus payment for a domain and now they took the money back.

No not really I would do it about every $100 - $150 than transfer.

I'm with you two on this one, I think that's exactly what it is. If not, please keep us updated and let us know what was wrong. :)

Perhaps you should check that you do not have a trojan/keystroke recorder on your computer...
