Just curious on how patient some of you are. How long have you held a name you thought would be a great sale at some point in the future? Do you still have them? How long have you had them?

I only have a few (maybe 5) names that I am not letting go and or, even thinking about finding end users for for atleast a couple years. I have found myself to be a little impatient with the majority of my names I know I'm not going to develop so I pretty much try and sell for a profit within the first couple months of registering them. Is this the typical pattern of behavior between most domainers do you think?

Thanks!

Man this is me...I started in end of Jan....have close to 250 domains and wish they were all sold already hahahahah....I have however had a great month this month just about breaking even on all the domains I bought.

My goal now is to be patient and hold onto names for the right price. :bingo:

I'm a Type A kind of person so patience is really tough for me.

I think I'll only hold a couple for awhile. The rest can move.

I get impatient sometimes. In domaining you gotta wait for that buyer to come along (or find it yourself).

I'll be content when I break even on this year's hand regs and beef up the rest an additional two years. When that happens, I'll be happy and so will the Mrs.

There's a difference between patience and ignorance. Unfortunately, we can't tell what the difference is until we look back on things.

I have a few names that I'm sitting on, mostly because they are worth nothing without development, and I'm sure I share the same "I'll develop them eventually" mentality as most people here.

One "success story" of patience was MyFights.com, which I sold on Afternic after letting it lay dormant for a couple of years. I hand regged it thinking it would make someone happy one day, and now it is a fight video site. Of course, looking back, I probably could've gotten more money for it than I did, so was it ignorance, or patience?

usually you are never sure what you got is really what other people wanted. So
you always have the doubt and thus the patient part. If you sold a name by
"chance", you could brag about it saying that you knew it was a gem. Until
then you patience is really under the test.

If your hand-regging bragging rights outlast the $$$ you might have made (and probably already spent), then it's a job well done.

Some of my names I'll hold for 10 years if I don't get a decent offer, others i'll want to sell within a year or two. Trends, current values, the quality of the name etc.

I think its find to be keen or eager to sell as it encourages you to look for sales or methods of sale, just don't make any rash choices, thats how I look at any business i'm involved in anyway.

I drop 90% of the names I don't sell within first year of registration. -_-, shows for how much patience i have. I love being liquid :)
