Hello folks,

Just wanted to check with you guys how do you folks make a living out of domains after the "LLLL.com money making bonanza- Bonus round" is almost over.

In the recent past 2 months I have traded over 90 domain names with an average ROI of 100 %. Unlike other guys I am not to patient and do not like buying and selling names for an average profit of 20 bucks.(Thats why I said the bonus round is over) Also Cashflow for me is moderate as I am still a full time student in australia doing my bachelors.

How to get past this phase to stay in this industry. Last 2 months have given me a lot of knowledge of domaining industry but since now it is tough to find very very good bargains in LLLL.com.

Also please state if you do this full time and if you do how do you manage it...On google adsense ? Flipping ? Developing ?

Also please tell me what is your ROI and transaction time. I think if I survive this phase I will do good in domaining.

Just trying to learn ABC of generic dictionary.com but am going horribly wrong in appraising their value.

First, I want to say the people who made a killing in the LLLL.com market were people who had the foresight to buy in before the "boom". They managed to register and purchase cheap aftermarket domains, and sit on them until the spike.

Is it too late? Hardly. There are still fantastic deals to be had daily as evident by the iReit blunder of selling 7 LLL.com's at an average price of $600.

The trick is to read the market - and look for the next heat wave. It takes time, patience, and quite honestly - risk. But, a smart investor does thorough homework and usually minimizes risk.

The other issue here - is that the LLLL.com boom, is nearly 100% reseller driven. As nice as it is to flip domains fast to other resellers. End-User sales are what we all hope and dream of.

nice post Justin!

i am saying lately it is a good time to buy right now
you said you dont have patient to wait and traded over 90 names but theres a information provided by Ergo showing drops are decreasing quickly (theres a graph here, if i am not wrong in the LLLL.com evaluation thread)

this graph says probably by august the number of drops will be very very small (it is difficult to say how many per day but less than 20 i think)

so, there are good deals to be done now as Justin said and if yo buy now and wait until september (5 months) you will have a good ROI
you just need to be patient :D

good luck

The economy has turned domains into something of a buyer's market. Part of domaining is adapting to change, and part of adapting is sitting out for a while until opportuntity presents itself.

Use the time to learn more and think about what you have learned.

Hi mate,

The party is over, now it`s time to play serious.

As I wrote today in the sales report thread, this is good for you to read:

if you are looking to get rich overnigh then go to Afternic and find domains like AUTO.com for $10,000......ehmmm no.... I tried that, next morning I was not rich so just find another way because LLLL.com are now in the stage of filtering the flippers from the investors.

Without deep knowledge, analysis, will , efforts, faith and patience you won`t get rich in this industry.

Let`s see:

they were 476,976

130,321 are Premium (U & W are PREMIUM, period!)

about 350,000 are not for sale for less than $500. (statistic results from random 5000 emails)

Well....yeah....it may be a bit hard if you can`t wait a few months or 1 year.

I would like to put in a little thing in here that is over looked by many domainers, even vets. When doing market analyzation of sales and such make sure you try to find out who is buying the domains you are looking at. More than often it is a domainer that gets over excited about a name and pays way to much for it. So prices can look "inflated" at times. Also this goes the other way around, it could be a domainer that is smart and is getting a bargain.

Another thing, right now it is a buyers market. This is the time to buy and hold for sure. So if you are a part time domainer this is a PERFECT oppourtunity to take advantage of the market slump. If you are a full time domainer then you are prolly taking a hit and selling off your "less than quality" names in your port. right now.

Honestly making $20 off a domain you bought for less than $10 an hour before is honestly GREAT ROI and turn Around time for a domain. Now imagine if you did that 10 times a day.

Also, the LLLL.com market is starting to develop properly and mature so its turning in to more a buy and hold game with those types of names. The quick flips for 200% on those domains are looming now. Plus people are being more selective of the LLLL.coms they buy as well.

Part Time(Hobbie)
100%+ ROI
With in a week usually
(Have taken losses on domains and little ROI as well)

Where can I read info on the Ireit blunder and how long ago did that happen?

Also as far as domain money making. March was my best month ever flipping domains for a pure profit of $2400.... The great thing is all domains flipped were bought in march and sold in march. I have a portfolio of domains that I am holding onto for LONG TERM investments and then I have my domains I buy just to flip and support my renewals, buying, etc of my long term portfolio.

The way I work it is I have at least 5 one word domains in every extension I feel may one day be great. (com net org info us biz ws asia mobi) and I keep those in my portfolio unless either A. I pick up a better name and then I will sell the one I am replacing or B someone offers me AT LEAST twice what I feel market value is. The nice thing about domains is that once the initial investment is over the renewal costs are only 10 bucks a year.... so for example.....

Say I buy AUTO.com for $10,000 (sorry italian) it cost me $10,000 for the first year but after 10 years it only costs me $1,000 a year on average. SO I look at it that way too. Sure I could look at a name and say its not with $500 today but I ask myself in ten years would I kick myself for not paying $60 a year to have that domain...

Also I agree with TiVo when he says picking up a name for $10 and selling it for $50 even a month later is a KILLER Return on Investment. If I put $10 in the stock market today and earned 10% a year on the domain it would take me 14 YEARS to turn $10 into $50.......

As far as average ROI etc. Like I said march was my best month and really my first month of putting more than 10 hours a month into domains. and my sales totalled $3200, it cost me about $800 for the domains I bought leaving me with $2400 profit.
will I do this well in april, no but I havent had as much time to invest and I will admit I got some great buys..... I am hoping for $1000 profit in april and $1000 minimum for every month this year. We Will see though.

Also I am starting to get into development so I will see how that goes...

good luck to all

This happened a few weeks ago. iReit loaded a chunk of their portfolio onto afternic for sale. The first day several amazing deals (including 7 LLL.com) were sold for a fraction of their value.

@ Justin - Thanks for the motivating post. However I must agree that the LLLL.com market is purely reseller driven and so was LLL.com and was LLL.net... Eventually in a year or two end users will start piking these up and market will spread even.

I am not just flipping names ..I am keeping some good ones that I can.I have around 10 good LLLL.coms now which I know will double the price in 6 months. So I am most likely keeping them.

@bricio - Initially I started with just flipping but now I have realised that this is more of a "must do every day business"...what if I fall sick or cannot do it for a month...I hate to think about it so i have also started building up my portfolio. It is indeed a good time to buy..Well if that is the case then why are not many sales falling through...I have seen atleast 10-15 great names not even reaching a bare minimum offer in past 2 days..Same applies to the other forum..If it is a good time to buy why are people not buying ?

@Lorenzo - I must really thank you for showing me what the LLLL.com is worth. I initially started out hating LLLL.com and never wanted to get my hands into it.I expressed myself openly of how silly it was when people invested in LLLL.com in the thread "Biggest flop of 2008". Later in one of the evaluation thread i saw you evaluating a CVCV for 1.5 K and I thought "Who if that evaluation is correct i can find 10 names for 500 each which I can sell for double or triple the money" Eventually I did and not just 10 many more......
