Hi Everyone,

Great site this!

Just wondering which you think is better and why?

Parked or Namedrive

Plus how does parked make money if its service is for free?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

The parking company takes a % of the ppc. The bad thing about parking companies is that they don't disclose how much they are actually keeping.

Parked allows for a lot more optimization, which helps with search engines. But you have to go through an approval process. And the landers, while they have a huge selection of photos you can use - you probably want to spend some time customizing them - some of the color schemes could be improved. And it can be difficult to get a one-click landing page if you want one.

Namedrive gets you up and running right away. They have some really nice landing pages (one-click) and some fairly generic ones. But other than setting the keyword, there's not a lot of optimizing you can do. That said, I've gotten good (and consistent) payouts from them.

Try them both. I currently have domains at each, with different strategies for each.

If you are just starting out in this parking business, chances are you have only a few names in your portfolio. If so, then I'd suggest you try NameDrive first because they have no minimum requirement. Parked has some minimum requirement as to the number of domains.

You could apply with Parked as you go along adding more names to your portfolio.

Thanks guys however I'm still curious on the following as I have a large number of names.

1. How can these pages rank in search engines (such as google) as they do not provide any original content? What do these sites do to get traffic beside offering optimised adds?

2. Do you have do any offpage optimisation on these pages to help gain ranking?

3. what is the average income on a domain name name in a month? for example what would you expect on the following domains which I own - www.the giftcrew.com, www.golfingviews.com and CHEAPHOMELOANS.EU

I ask as I'd imagine its a numbers game...

4. So I take it namedrive is more professional - is there any penalty for sing both and swaping domains around between the two?

1. Parked gives you the ability to add the Title Tag, Keywords, Meta Description, and some Content (text, photos, videos etc). These help in differentiating your page from a common parking page

Sometimes, parking pages also rank high in search engines because "the previous site" could be a content site and rank high. When it expires, the domain is bought over and put up as parking.

2. Offpage optimisation. I have no comment on this. I'm no SEO expert.

3. You are half right in the sense of numbers game. It is actually not how many domains you own, but how much quality (click through, or convertible) traffic your portfolio gets as a whole.

As a general rule, to get more traffic, you will need more names. But, having more names doesn't guarantee you more traffic. As you go along getting more experience, then you might want to sell your low traffic domains and buy higher traffic domains.

4. I'd say both NameDrive and Parked are good companies to join. And there is no penalty for swapping (directing) traffic between the two. You just need to login to your domain and modify the DNS to point the traffic anywhere you want.

I don't know where to ask this question, but here seems like a good spot. :]

Is there a listing anywhere that tells which ads each parking company uses? Reason I ask is that I have 2 domains at ND that I feel should be doing a bit better.

Floating around the keyword research sites, it seems that those keywords are searched almost double on Yahoo as opposed to Google (hope I'm explaining this right). It makes sense considering the audience (crafts, sewing etc). So I'm thinking I should put those someplace with Yahoo ads, but I don't know who is using what.

I read here on namepros, that - Parked allow you promote, post links on other websites and use adwords ...etc ?

Don't think you can even give a link to your parked page with - Namedrive even on your sig. here for example ? google ads at namedrive.

I like ND for the multi design cookie cutter approach. Nice template selection in a wide range of genre. Finance and Business temps look "Business". THe "Electronics" temps .... yep... looks like an electronics storefront.

And Parked.com for the fine tuning or some what advanced parking options. You can add affiliate content. Parked also has a huge color pallet for the templates and large photo archive. A very generic and simple template design.
