In light of the release of the Da Vinci Code, we are thinking about putting TheLouvre.eu up on eBay.

Google hits:
Louvre=22,100,000
The Louvre=21,700,000

Since this is our first eBay auction, a few questions.
1. Should we have a reserve? If so, how much?
2. Our comany has it listed with GoDaddy. Can we "push" it to a GoDaddy account?
3. Should We use an escrow service?
4. How do the .eu transfers work?

Haven't seen Da Vinci Code movie yet. Is the Louvre featured in it?

Interesting name. I'm not sure really what it could be used for, if the museum themselves did not use it. The "The" hurts, since that limits it to an English language site only.

Not sure what to appraise it at, so I'll just take a stab at the questions you asked.


1. Should we have a reserve? If so, how much?
I avoid using a reserve on domain sales, as both buyer and seller.

2. Our comany has it listed with GoDaddy. Can we "push" it to a GoDaddy account?

Yes, GoDaddy allows free ownership changes. They call them account changes.

3. Should We use an escrow service?

If you don't know or trust the buyer, then using escrow is not a bad idea. Fees are reasonable at www.escrow.com For transactions < $500, PayPal is usually more common. Be sure to consider the buyer's trader rating at eBay and/or NamePros.

4. How do the .eu transfers work?

I do not know.

The Louvre is getting a lot of exposure from the book/movie.

I think we will let it set on the back burner for a bit and try some of our more generic names.
