I use Firefox1.5.3 on my Imac and on this Namepros forum I always get a little blue page scroll sliderbar in the top left hand corner of the thread box. It is very annoying as it blocks out parts of the text in a message. I dont have this problem on any other sites I visit..only here. When I use SAFARI or Internet Explorer to visit Namepros I also dont have this problem. It seems it is only on this site and with Firefox that this problem occurs. Any ideas on this and/or solutions?
Thank you
Fred

I'm afraid I dont know how to do a screen shot. Perhaps you can tell me how. Anyhow I will try again to describe it more accurately. You will notice that on the right hand side of this page there is a feature with which to scroll the page up and down. It consists of a blue slide button and at the bottom there is an up and a down arrow on which you can click to scroll up and down. Well this blue slide button and up and down arrow also appears in the top left hand corner of the box in which a message such as this one finds itself. It is of the same dimensions as the regular one on the righthand side of your page except that it does not extend all the way down the page. It is only about 2 inches long but is very annoying as it blocks out part of any message that is posted in this box.
If you click on the up and down arrow of this nuisance scroll button thingie it responds by sliding the blue button up and down but apart from that it does nothing but just sit there annoying the hell out of me.

You can do a screen shot by holding the Apple button, while pressing Shift and 4... So its: APPLE, SHIFT, 4. Then you can make a selection of what you want to capture on the screen. Once you make the selection, the screenshot is saved on the desktop I believe, but I think it's in PDF format.

OK I think this worked. I used the program "GRAB" to capture this and converted the resulting TIFF file to GIF. I then uploaded it at TINYPIC
Click on this link to view.

See the problem?

Yep grats binartman :tu: - That's exactly what I get on a mac also, when using firefox (not sure about the other browsers).

fixed in firefox

I am having the same problem and posted about it (that thread has since been deleted). Anyway, I think I found the problem. I am 99% sure it's not a Mac/FF issue as every other vBulletin board I go to works.

So I took a look at the code and found, what looks to me, as the culprit.

At the start of each post is a snippet of code that looks like this:
PHP:
<td class="thead" style="font-weight:normal" align="right">
    ย
    <form name="p1262084" style="display:inline;">

	<!-- REMOVE ME - EVERYTHING WILL BE OK -->
    <div style="position:absolute; z-index:1; visibility: hidden">
        <textarea name="message" rows="7" cols="1" wrap="virtual" tabindex="1">
File Hosting Domain/Site For Sale... the rest of the post followed here for some reason. I don't think it's necessary to have the post in this textarea...
</textarea>
    </div>
    <!-- /REMOVE ME - EVERYTHING WILL BE OK -->

    <a href="#vbform">
        <smallfont>
            QuickQuote
        </smallfont>
    </a><input type="checkbox" onclick="document.vbform.message.value = document.vbform.message.value + document.p1262084.elements[0].value">
    </form>
    ยท #<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.namepros.com/showpost.php?p=1262084&postcount=1" target="new"><strong>1</strong></a>
</td>

Everything between the comments "REMOVE ME - EVERYTHING WILL BE OK" is causing this error. For some reason the post is re-posted into a textarea. Not sure why but this is unnecessary and makes that page that much longer to load.

So, to NP.com, i think you can remove this section of code from your vB template and everything will be fine. I believe you can find it here: AdMinCP > Style Manager > Postbit Templates > Postbit

If that textarea is serving another function that I am not aware of, then just ignore this post. but the blue scroll bars sure is annoying.

Hope this helps.

Hey oreamnos,

I don't think that's the problem, if you delete in between your two points, that will delete the post also. So there will not be any posts, just an empty thread.

It might be around that area though.

no it doesn't. the post appears further down: check this out:

is it a vbulletin issue then? i thought only in namepros on mac browser has that problem?

i don't think its a vb issue or a mac issue. i have a mac and 3 vBulletin forums and i don't have this problem. i think somewhere along the way the template got a little funky and the page is being rendered differently on different systems.

That removes the functionality of the "QuickQuote" feature. It's removed now. Mac FireFox users, can you verify the scroll bar issue is gone?

The scrollbars are gone for me too, but yer the quick quote doesn't work.

Scrollbars are not gone. I can't even use this site from school because I can't read the most important text of any posts! Can we get this problem resolved soon?

Browser: Mac FF 1.0.7

Edit: I havn't taken a look at the code, but it seems a fix was already listed in this thread? I am an HTML coder and Quality Assurance technician at PINT, Inc. We test many browsers, including the one I am on now. Perhaps when I get into the office later, I'll give NP a quick little QA evaluation. :)

Double edit: It appears oreamos (sp?) is correct, but this change has not been implemented into the actual postbit yet. I am trying to figure out a reason why that text would be there but no visible on the main screen, perhaps that is a print style, or only used on 'printable version' template? Also, I'd say mess around with overflow, perhaps if you set it to visible, you could eliminate those scrollbars. I'll do a run thru in a few hours.
