Is there some sort of trick to get Pacnames to do their job? I'm trying to transfer a domain away from them (no surprise there) but I'm having trouble getting any meaningful response from them (again no surprsie there).

You have to give them "treats" ;)

It works like this: trick, treat.. trick, treat... it works with my dog too.

:)

Good luck!

My advice is to never go near them! I've been waiting for over a year to transfer out (i even had to renew to make sure it didn't drop!). I have emailed, and submitted comments but they are, without doubt, the worst registrar out there :td:

I know this doesn't help you, but i had to get that off my chest!

Now I know why it is taking so long for a transfer I initiated last week. Looks like it may never happen. I'll let this name drop before I give them the satisfaction of another renewal.

I found a "release my name dance". I think I'll try it.

Two hops to the left.

Two hops the the right.

Twirl three times.

Repeat.

What's really humorous is their response to emails when the actually do respond. I checked whois a about a half-dozen sites and the info wasn't coming up for my domain. So I write to them and they say "I don't know what you're talking about, I see the whois info". Then I go back to the sites I did the check and suddenly the info is appearing. Instead of just saying "We fixed the issue" they try to make you look like a moron.

I don't know if they are a SnapNames registrar anymore, but that is how I got stuck with them.

Me too. I would never have used them but SnapNames registered two names at totalnic sites.

I wrote to SnapNames about my dissatisfaction. They should know that customers may be less likely to use their service if they think their domain name could end up being held hostage by the registrar. But, of course, Theresa at SnapNames copies and pastes a standard reply, which I've received three times for three different questions. I'm starting to think SnapNames also has its head so far up its a$$ that's its popped right back into place.

Dealing with these companies is frustrating... :'(

Dan,

I've finally managed to get my domain transferred. I logged on to PACNAMES and unlocked my domain. I also wrote them a stern comment on how i felt about them.

I then used registerfly to proceed with the transfer, and it now seems to be going through ok (i don't know if they have more clout than other registrars?)

Anyway, it seems it can be done without actually involving them at all (thank god!)

Thanks. I'm trying to transfer a couple with GD now. It seems to be going, but it isn't final yet so you never know.
