Hey Everyone
I'm sure most of you have either saw or heard about the Pacers and Pistons Brawl at the Friday Night game in Detroit. What do you all think about the situation and the consequences that David Stern has issued? There hasn't been any sports discussions here since the World Series so thought I'd start up a discussion on the game.
I personally think it was ridiculous that the players jumped into the seats to attack the fans as they are suppose to be professionals so it shouldn't matter what was said or done to provoke them. They should be professional enough to bite the bullet and ignore the fans if they are getting under their skin instead of going after them. The suspensions of the 9 players for a total of 142 games is definitely a fair punishment considering that the fans were in danger and the players not only made themselves look like fools but the whole National Basketball Association as a whole.
The suspension that Ron Artest received of 73 games (rest of the season) is certainly a fair and great move in my opinion as he has had a lot of childish behavior over the years that has lead up to this point. Sure someone can make the argument that he had beer thrown at him but he's a professional making millions a year so he should of taken the classy route and ignored the fan. There was only 45.9 seconds left of the game when it occured so he should of worried about finishing out the game instead of snapping and creating a brawl which ended up costing him the season without pay.
Hopefully the fans who were punched and attacked will press charges against the players as something more than just a suspension needs to be done. The fans should be able to go to a sports game and enjoy it without worrying that the players are going to jump into the crowd and start throwing fists. That should be left to the boxing Industry and World Wrestling Entertainment, not the NBA.
Let's hear your thoughts and opinions with this situation.
