Overstock.com sues Gator Corp. and WhenU.com

I don't like either of them companies and I think they should both be banned from the internet! I have seen so many stories about gator being sued though, and they are still doing what they have been sued for so many times. Why don't they just ban them, throw them in prison, or whatever they have to do in order to teach them a lesson?

Overstock.com has asked a federal judge to order two of the Internet's most infamous "spyware" enterprises to stop the unauthorized linking of their advertising to the online retailer's Web sites.
In separate U.S. District Court complaints, Overstock.com charges that Gator Corp. and WhenU.com have inundated users of the Salt Lake City-based company's http://www.overstock.com and http://www.overstockb2b.com sites with "pop-up" and "pop-under" ads.
In addition to permanent injunctions against such ads in the future, the suits seek court costs and damages that conceivably could run into the millions of dollars.

Gator, based in Redwood, Calif., boasts on its own Web site that it is "the leader in online marketing" with more than 700 corporate clients. It estimated more than 35 million Internet users have downloaded Gator applications -- free software that installs Web-tracking, or spyware programs.

I hate gator, and the only reason that they claim to have 35 million internet users that have downloaded their applications, is because that crap downloads to your computer without you even knowing, it's happened to me several times.
I have contacted them about this problem, they always say that the program can't plant itself to a persons computer without them actually hitting the download button, which is complete crap because it's happened to so many other people besides myself.
I think companies like this should honestly be banned from the net, and should be punished to the fullest extent.

I got some stupid gator program a long time ago and ever since then my computer had been full of junk. But now I reformatted so it's fine.
