How do you guys feel TV fairs against a ORG name?

I figure .org is a bit more recognizable by the masses, but it has limitations of its one because of the meaning. I dont necessarily feel the same way about .tv.

something like loans.org is probably a lot more valueable than loans.tv right now, right? Is this true for all words? Is shows.tv better than shows.org?

Anyhow I have just been thinking about this because I am comparing the aftermarket price of some .org names to some .tv premiums and considering which would make a better investment.

I hope you guys have some input on this subject

Cheers

Give .tv some time.

Demand Media launched ChannelMe.tv May 1, only 3 months ago. Today, they just
launched an ad campaign on REVVER.

I have not seen any entity advertise .org in a similar manner or offer the free tools you can get with a .tv name.

Obviously, .org is cheaper extension, but offers value value to organizations, especially non-profits.

.tv will be preferred for those seeking to deliver entertainment to end users. Technically, .org could be used to deliver the same content, but the extension does not lend itself well to creating a strong, recognizeable brand in the same way .tv can. In fact, I know of only a few .org sites, and few that really stand out in my head in the same way different .com and .tv sites do.

I am not sure what your strategy is or what you hope to accomplish, but I do know that more and more domainers are realizing that developing their domain names is where the action is at these days.

My advice is do not buy anything you either cannot develop yourself, or that you would be unwilling to develop yourself. Pure speculation plays should be left for high valued generic keywords or acronyms in my opinion, and even that kind of action I might leave to experienced domainers (and stick to .com and .tv unless you really know what you are doing, such as the typo area of domaining).

If you want a piece of the .tv action, my best advice is to go for something you can develop and develop it, or get a great premium name that you can afford the renewals on and hold it.

.org is currently more in the public's mind, but if you're launching a major site and have the marketing budget to back it up, I'd say a .TV name has much more enduring brandability.

this is especially so when the .TV extension is fitting with the keyword, e.g. shows.

org is not rubbish-
but, it does work best for an organization type-
sexychicks.org does not work-
CancerSupport.org works great-
to me, it is slightly limited in that but, it is solid in that arena-

tv, (again just to me now)- works well for anything, not just "tv related" names- people are running with it-
as i have mentioned in the past- look at launched.tv- look, say, under music- you have names like womb.tv, nutter.tv and krib.tv- set up for music sites-

.TV is hip- hence, you can run with it- it does not have to be comedyshows.tv-
it can go far beyond that, and work very well-

.org is a very legitimate option for the appropriate entity, and I do not see an entity really being appropriate for both categories. In fact, the one domain I am ot wanting to make money on, Dictator.tv, would probably be more appropriate as a .org. The free tools swayed me into developing the domain, so it's a .tv. The two extensions can coexist, IMO, without competing against one another.

I don't think there is even a close comparison between .org and .tv nor does any other extension compare to .tv

DOT TV IS IN A LEAGUE OF ITS OWN AND WILL BECOME THE SECOND GREATEST TLD NEXT TO .COM

.org is certainly not rubbish and in comparing to .tv depends on the application. I would prefer mortgages.org or startuploans.org but would rather have sexy.tv or broadcast.tv

yea it's hard to compare the 2 of these..They both have completely opposite meanings to them..I'm not going to sit here and say the same things the others have..I think it all depends on the name you want to register
