.org goes for high bucks on Sedo

rapidshared.org went for 13,987 Euros on Sedo.

This is one of the higher .org domain sales I have seen lately.

In your opinion, did the buyer overpay?

Yes of course, unless they have some specific use. It would hard to beat rapidshare and it is unfair use if they use for the same reason like rapidshare.de

Seems that the deal also included a website providing links to all kind of different files hosted at rapidshare.de I have no idea about how much the site is generating in revenue but depending on the revenue could 13,987 Euros be a fair price since the amount of cause not is for the domain alone.

You have a point. After doing a little research, I don't think it is illegal to show people where these files are, but you cannot host them. That is what makes it illegal on your end.

As long as the revenue stream is there, I think that the domain name sale was worth it.

Almost all posted links are to warez and copyrighted material which I doubt is accepted in the Adsense TOS.

Yes it was 1.3-1.4k$/month on adsense.
Links on this site are posted by users, and tos states that site will not have any responsability about that.
It's not the place of discussion here, i just know that, that's all .

it is worth noting by domainers that the name in itself is not necessarily a guide to price value. If an apparently 'ugly' name has an established website with a multitude of traffic click-thrus ie has recognition on the net and is therefore a site of worth, then 'ugly' is better than 'pretty' and can fetch a high price not apparently commensurate with the apparent value of the name alone.

That is a pretty decent revenue stream to be coming in off a domain. The buyer is taking a chance adsense won't discontinue his/her account along with other legal action being taken against him/her.

Why won't Sedo/DNJournal et. al. provide some type of indicator or legend to denote developed site sales from domain name only sales?

I mean, I sold a dating network consisting of some of the worst domain names ever for high-5 figures several years ago, but it was the developed and income value that allowed me to get such a high price.

These sites like DNJournal, Sedo etc. that do NOT specify whether the sales they present are developed sites or domain-only are leading inexperieced domainers to believe that some of these domains are worth money when, in fact, the domains themselves are not.

DN Journal and Sedo, need to create a separate category for 'Developed Site' sales just like the Forums have so that people can differentiate between the two.

These sites are misrepresenting the value of many of the domain names sold by using such titles as 'Domain Name Sales' and creating confusion among new domainers who may be mislead into thinking their undeveloped domain names are worth much more than they are.

This is misleading and should not be allowed. How would you guys like it if namepros didnt have a separate Forum for developed site sales? You wouldnt know what you were buying. This is ridiculous.

At Sedo you can mark your domain by 'W' letter rounded, meaning it's developed website.

I dont think that it was worth paying this much money for the domain itself, and the dubious legality of the site being run on it. I think the exowner will be patting his or herself on the back as they got rid of the pressure of running such a site.
