.org and finance, real estate etc names?

What is your input on the .org extension and "commercial" keywords?

.org as an extension was intended for organizations and nonprofit entities, right? But have, or will, org change to be applicable for keywords not related to the nonprofit "context", like finance and real estate for example?

So, does org only suit the intended nonprofit names?

.org changed a long time ago and IMO it is excellent for Realestate/finance. Own several loan domains in .org. Check out Dn Journal to see what has been selling in .org
Good luck to you I think you can do ok with those categories in the .org extension.

The public image of .org does not go well with commercial applications. I do not remember ever using a commercial .org site...

An archetype of this is Mozilla, the .org takes you to the Mozilla Foundation and the .com takes you to Mozilla products (Firefox etc).

Have sniped a couple of "real estate" orgs of tdnam lately, like houston apartments dot org, real estate contract dot org, real estate sites dot org etc.

Thought I read on FS sevenmile blog a while ago that after com, he puts org. Not net, info, mobi etc. But I could be wrong, wishful thinking and I cant find the source to back it up.

Yofie did a nice analysis in another thread where he says "people knowing the ext, and the safety feeling people already have is a huge plus", so with an org comes quality and trust..

I've got a few legal, real estate and finance dot orgs and they are doing better than my generic dot coms in some cases. They are on pace to pay for themselves in PPC revenue and I am hoping that an end user would be easier to find than other niche dot coms, not to mention that good names are easier to find in the dot org ext, unlike dot com.
