Optimizing a .wmv file?

Hi
I am a new user and have a question that may sound ridiculous, but here goes:

My neice got married last week, and they played a .wmv file for the guests at the reception. It was over 6 minutes long, with music and pictures. I have it on a cd and it's 41.5 mb.

I am on a Mac, OS 10.2.8 so I have iMovie and other graphics software but I understand this is a Windows Media file. Can I reduce the file size on my Mac to be able to put the video on free webspace I set up for her on Yahoo or is it a lost cause? (there is a limit on how much space you can occupy)

My son does have a PC that I could try but I'm not sure which is the software or utility I would need to reduce the screen size.

Thanks to anyone who can direct me!

You could try using Windows Movie Maker, that comes with every XP and it's fairly simple to use. What size do you need to get it to for Yahoo?

You could try downloading windows media encoder. It comes with a number of tools for working with wm files.

Oh thank you for your responses! When my son comes home I can find out which OS he has on which computer and give those two ideas a whirl.

As far as which size the file has to be, I'm not sure exactly, only that a file of the current size would use up the limited bandwidth and free space quickly, and I do have a few other pages with pictures on them. I also put in a link to the yahoo! photo albums, which provides unlimited space.
