Snoop - it was not my intent to expose you as a fraud. In fact, i was saying that i thought your contributions thru the years were of value. But i think it just as well that you have been exposed as a fraud at this point.

Not a fraud, really, but a lonely, forlorn and behind the times crusader...kinda like a 20th century Don Quixote, fighting the ravages of the next century that lie upon him.

Snoop made sense in the last century...this one seems to be passing him up, try as he may to stop time, it still marches on!

Firstly, Is this one of those reverse psychology posts where you hope to deflect your own "turd polishing" by pretending it was someone else who has been doing that?

Secondly, where did you say you thought my contributions through the years were of value without any back handed statement following it?

Looking at your 25 prior posts the only ones talking about me are comments where you said basically the same thing you are saying in this thread,

eg,

As much fun as this is; it has grown tiresome. I have to move on to doing other things tonite - even though, unlike you Snoop, i am a dot tv enthusiast. I will continue to enjoy your commentary in this forum regardless.

...and that is the proper spirit to maintain, thank you! We are unabashed and unashamed vocal enthusiasts of this extension and see the benefits we are enjoying in this, the 21st century.

To those that cannot or will not see the trend, 'tis but a shame and we extend our wishes of good fortune to them, regardless of their personal feelings against the .tv extension.

All's well that end's well, and things are moving steadily for this extension without a break in the action. I love it!

It's just like:

CNN.tv
Good news for .TV!

Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they will pay anything, in fact it probably means the opposite. They are likely the type of person who makes good choices with their money.

Thanks for the financial advice. When does your book come out?

Passing on the .com is a poor decision if she has any plans for creating a serious online portal.

But I have forgotten where I am, the .tv forum. I wont waste my time trying to explain to you guys what a mistake it is to invest serious money into a .tv domain when you don't also own the .com. You have too much money invested in your mistake, you'll never see the light.

If you already know that its a waste of time explaining to Tvers about .TV, why just wasted it then ? Its kinda funny to ask a Q then give an answer like you know everything about it.

"WHAT YOU MIGHT KNOW ONLY GRAINS, there's mountains of unknown things"

Its just a poor assumption for the educated minds on believing whatever extension besides .COM will not survive.

Development is the key.....and even the mighty .COM is no body, without development it just a random and boring parked page.

Whatever the case, I do not know what your qualifications are either, but I would assume that Oprah has many people working on this project that have experience in this particular field, so until that time I'll allow you your slams and attacks and regard them as mere chatter and child's play on our preferred investments.

You should, of course, feel free to return to your extension where you feel more comfortable and I wish you only the best of luck and fortune in these most interesting times.

As I stated previously, even a billionaire doesn't want to get gouged with an overpriced and now overrated extension like .com. Because of the times, .com, is not what it once was, plain and simple.

Only in domain forums do people think someone should buy a domain without even knowing what it might cost then to do so,

A couple of questions,

Firstly,

-Say the owner wanted $100,000, would it have been a good idea to buy it?

-Say the price was $1 million? Good idea then?

-Say the price was $10million? Good idea?

How would you as Oprahs accountant justify her spending that kind of money on a domain, is there an ROI?

Secondly, say the choice is between calling it the Oprah Winfrey Network with a url Oprah.com Versus Own.com, is it worth paying a significant amount to have a url of Own.com?

Where is the benefit in calling your network own.com versus oprah.com? (note the network is currently on oprah.com, lets not get confused about all the talk in here about her using own.tv which is just noise)

If someone really cares that much on the url that they'd spend say $1million on a brandable term maybe they are better off calling it something else from the start eg call it the owc, oprah winfrey channel or ona, oprah network america, likely a dozens of other possibilities. Or is the argument just that she is a billionaire and thus should spend a lot on a domain?

But I have forgotten where I am, the .tv forum. I wont waste my time trying to explain to you guys what a mistake it is to invest serious money into a .tv domain when you don't also own the .com. You have too much money invested in your mistake, you'll never see the light.

The irony that you'd level this at me :o

Snoop - you have strong opinions about ROI for someone that has only ever experienced negative ROI in his online endeavors. Perhaps you should leave this thread to the big boys and girls that are actually making a +ROI on the internet. I suggest to you that someone like yourself who has lost money over time on the net should just observe the big boys who actually know how to make money with their domain names. Just hang back quietly and try to learn something so that someday you can join the ranks of the big boys and girls that actually are making money using this little tool called the "internet".

Oprah's Harpo Inc Chicago IL just announced that vimeo.com/Harpo has been moved to HarpoCreativeWorks.TV "Episodics". Prob. a sign that they plan to use dot tv branding elsewhere in the Harpo/Oprah family of websites; perhaps even for OWN TV, which would be very good for the dot tv brand in general.

Making stuff up isn't much of an argument.

I'm just gobsmacked that Russell Brand and Oprah Winfrey have something in common..

...I geninley didn't think that ONE thing would be that they both own .TV names!

Russell Brand is one of the first celebrities to bet big on dot tv. I expect that many celebs known largely for live entertainment will follow. You know that now, with the success of his dot tv launch, that everyone in Hollywood is at least considering doing a dot tv.
