What are your thoughts on .online domains?
It's very generic and not as ugly as .xyz for example, so that's a plus - but perhaps a little too long to have any success...
Plus most good names are either unavailable or premium...

Just picked up a few more for under a buck

TravelBags
AudioEquipment
ClothingBoutiques
BathProducts

I thought going for some products would suit the extension well :)

Nice.
If you cant sell them, you can always trade them for a travelbag, fill it with clothing and bathproducts put on your new headphones and be on your way. And that for less than 4 bucks.
i think im gonna register ikea.online and trade it for a Billy........

Now we just need more promotion of the extension and more enduser sales! B-)

True...but will take sometime still its very new.

agreed. Not blowing the budget, but would like to see some of the gltd's take off just to prove all of the .com vets wrong. Everyone knows .com is king, however there's only so many good names to be had in the extension. Time for one of the gltd's to really take off.
IMO .online has great potential to really become popular!

ElectricalAppliances.online sold with $800 to an end user.

I see a great future for this extension. Many startups will use it, and also established companies for redirecting.

I like .online and support all new extensions but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around long ones like this. It's 26 characters when you add the extension, seems like a lot to type IMO.

I was looking through my accounts and found this, I'd forgotten that I regged it. I'm not sure whether the Chinese are bothered about hyphens? I will have to ask Kassey

Below are all the gtld's with 200,000+ registered domains. It's amazing that .Online is still on end of that range because it's the only gtld that makes sense with pretty much any sort of domain name. For example, lets take a random word, say garbage(for a cleaning company) and try to match it with any of those extensions. Besides .online and .info, the rest of those would be terrible to have with that domain name. Like garbage.loan, garbage.red, garbage.party??? lol. However, we have to consider how young of a gtld .online is and given the daily growth rate, year end numbers for registered names will be impressive I think.

We type thousands of characters a day somethings. If the domain makes sense and is as short as it can be to be the main domain for that category, then it will have value. ElectricalAppliances.online is long, but makes sense and really can't be shorter and still make sense.

Here is a 33 character domain with a hyphen that is in a two different languages and is a dot net that sold for $13,090!
Now that is long and crazy.

Private-Krankenversicherungen.net โ‚ฌ11,900 = $13,090 Sedo 2/24/16

I like shorter domains but the long ones sell too.

I think most of the terrible extensions have highly inflated numbers.

There is no way .wang and XN--SES554G can have those numbers, unless there 1000's of domains held back and being somehow counted in the reg numbers. I typed in random very long xn--domains and none were available. Something funny going on with most of these extensions!

.online is a waay better extension than any of the above mentioned ones except "maybe" info. It will have better numbers naturally than the rest besides .info.

My thoughts exactly... something is definitely not right there. Perhaps thousands of number combinations have been bought up for these extension, which might work for .com, but there's no way it will work for all the new extensions.
I suspect .online has a MUCH higher percentage of real usable domains than most of gTLDs.

I think .online is already doing more than great. Dont let the comparison with other gtlds in the stats fool you. .online is steadily going up.
People who looked a little strange at me last year when I told them I registered a lot of .online tlds, are now a lot more quiet.

And i've seen some arguments against .online on this forum, but none of the arguments impressed me.

1. .com is king
True. The Roman Empire was also great.......but decadence made them blind and weak and I havent seen much of them lately.
And besides being a short tld i dont see any sense in the letters c o m.
.com became a brand name the same way some fat dude in North Korea is in charge. No competition, no choice.

2. .online is too long
True. But the strange thing is that .com domains with the word "online" in them are being sold for a lot of money. So better put this word at the end and remove the .com........ It makes the domain shorter and better......

3. .online doesnt make any sense
It doesnt make any sense because it is obvious you are already online so no need to repeat that in the extension.
Well, the reality is that the word online is frequently used by people who are online. And as stated under 2, the word online is used in a lot of .com domains. So, the money says something different.
And it is also wrong, because for a lot of products and services there is a online and a offline variant
Loan.online, borrow.online, credit.online, divorce.online, poker.online, wine.online, etc etc. It all indicates that you will be able to get the product or service right there on that website.
On wine.com i may be able to buy wine or it may just be an informative website.
On wine.online i expect to be able to order wine.

In short: my logic tells me .online is ging to be great, or at least good. And my logic rarely fails me ;)

Your post is good for anyone invested in .Online, which I guess a lot of people here are invested deeply. However, keep in mind that .Online is SIX characters long by itself, which is just ridiculous. Renewals on average cost $30 / year. At least with an .IO it is catchy for tech start-ups, so $30 ain't too big of a deal.

Plus, I am sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, but doesn't "ONLINE" just scream 1990's to most of you guys? Maybe because I grew up in the 90's and got online in 1991.. but it just sounds so out of date.

Probably some of you will disagree but just giving my true opinion. ;)

edit: and whoa.. .Mobi still has 723,877 regs.. LEL
