I've just found a .com domain that pretty much matches what my new web site will be doing. I've no idea of the value, though. It's a dictionary word, something like 'delivered') with a very low (37) OVT. The base word (i.e. 'deliver') gets 1000 OVT. I was thinking of offering something like £100 for it.

Is this too low? (or too high?!)

One thing to look for: is the key word you want within the domain? In other words is it keyworded and not keywored??? Search engines will find the keyword if all the letters are there in the right places.

I'd say the branding was equally important. Will your users remember the name well enough to stay loyal? If it's a good word - strong brand - then go for it. I have an "ed" domain that should work well as it's memorable (see sig).

sure -ed can be good in the right sitations.

Something like these would be fine:
problemssolved.com
dinnersdelivered.com

Thanks for the info. I was going to go for it until i found a listing offering it for minimum $1000. To top this it is also now directed to a porn site :bah:

The word actually has nothing to do with porn, so i'm really quite annoyed. If i had checked it out in work, i'd have been in big trouble!

Anyway, I decided to go instead for the -er .org. This was available, and doesn't have any dodgy history!
