With the growing popularity of DN investing we are seeing more and more newcomers to NP (which is wonderful) but many newly joined members are FIRST posting in the DN Wanted section.

The usual pattern is a few BUMPs than responses by other members once they realize the OP may actually stick around and be serious about buying.

I never offer names on these threads as I view OP as shopping for ideas rather than intending to buy aftermarket names.

One's reputation is important in this game and I think many newcomers should consider posting some constructive comments and even buying a name or two before asking for PMs.

My thoughts.

Thoughtful comments. I'm new here myself and I agree with you that it's important to establish trust before expecting rewards of any kind. You're so right about reputation, and it's good advise for newcomers to buy first before selling. All relationships are give-and-take, preferably give before take. Along with some "....Patience..."

Reading your post made me feel it was me you were talking about. This is my second post here. My first was an attempt to sell a domain (no luck with that, of course...)

Now I understand that behaving like this is like entering a new friend's party for the first time shouting "Where is the liquor?" before thanking for the invitation.

I've spent many hours since my first post reading thread after thread here. It has been a fantastic journey (it still is) into the minds of many brilliant domainers. I'm still amazed that all knowledge gathered here are available for free.

I agree. In respect of this great community dont' do what I did. If you are a newbie, like me, read, read, read. Search or ask questions. Get educated. Post your thoughts and comments. Get to know people and earn some respect before you enter the marketplace. It will do you (and probably your wallet) good.

It takes awhile to sell domains. Dont give up, be patient, be persistent, and be creative with what domains you choose to buy/sell. Good luck!

Do more research/reading/learning before buying

also just a headsup when i have a buyer outside of namepros i make it a point to invite them here and let them join under my referral link in namepros and then push them the domain here so sometimes they just introduce and then be gone, i invite them more to post again to become more active looking at namepros as a marketplace for domainers.

Good post Lobe! Although I must say that here there is no minimum post or time requirement to be able to post a sales or domain wanted thread. Knowing this we can expect to see lots of "one post wonders". Many of them I suspect are not like maxadams who spend lots of time reading and analyzing and sharing ideas/thoughts, they just want to sell a domain quickly and are happy they found a free fast way to advertise. ...oh well their loss!

maxadams - Welcome to NP and good luck!

Thanks for the responses.

I just wanted to point out that this is a business like any other. Reputation and trust are vital.

Good Luck to all.

Unfortuntely there is no moderator in the Welcome or Newbies section to guide newbies into the world of domaining.

Cheers

Yes, you are one of the rarer newbies. Most (including myself) came into the domaining game for months and months not reading anything, I would recommend months and months reading with no action in the marketplace at all apart from reading lol

Learning is very important :)
