On going optimization?

Hi guys, just a quick one really...

I have a gambling website which was started a few months back and optimized in various ways, now everything has come into play i am getting a fair few hits from google, msn etc under quite competitive keywords, for example, if i search google(uk) for uk online casinos i come up 8th out of 8 million results

when the site was optimized i used various techniques such as article submission, backlinks / link building, quality keyword research etc

i am just wondering if i need to carry on optimizing the website further to keep the rankings

that's a personal question, but if i were you i would because search engine optimization is an on-going thing. as you've mentioned yourself, the keywords you're trying to rank high on are competitive, and eighth is bordering on the second page. it is also dependent on how much traffic you want from search engines, how much higher you think you can get, and how much more work you're willing to put in to get there.

Congrats on the rankings for those KW's

I would keep on doing what you have been doing such as article submission, backlinks / link building, quality keyword research etc

I would also make 2 small sub sites, that each contain about 1,000 words of custom content that will focus around other keywords that you wish to target, and then apply what you have done to your current site, so then in another few months down the road you will have a chunk of the SERPS for your related keywords, which will drive more traffic.

And for the #8 posistion I see the site

I would like to ask you some questions which in return will give you your answer.

- How many spots are there on First page of Google?
- If you are within that spots then don't you think someone else like you will also be working day and night trying to overtake you?
- If 10 people decides to overtake you for that spots and they do succeed then will you not be moved to number 11?

good points nick, there are 10 spots on the first page of google, yes they will deffinitely be trying to overtake me and yes i will slip down if they do so...

when you put it that way the penny drops... i'll be working on it from now on to maintain it now then

Never stop optimizing, That is when your traffic will drop significantly, Keep that site constantly updated, It will pay you nice dividends if you do.
