This thread was inspired by a post in another thread, where someone reported they had a friend who'd originally regged TRAVEL.COM - only to let it drop because they reckoned domains would never become valuable (Ouch! It hurts to even write that!!).

So, just for a bit of dark fun ('cos we all like horror stories...lol)...

Question:

What great domains did you once own that you may have sold cheap, or, let drop, or, somehow let go, that, later, you found were incredibly valuable...Or domains you looked at, could have had cheap, but didn't buy....?

My horror story is, I looked at Dreams.com in early 1997, for poetry I was writing at the time - which was available - and thought: 'Nah....no one would be interested in dreams on the internet'....Arrrrgh....!!

I know it'll hurt to tell us, guys....but, do tell....:)

Not nearly as valuable as Travel.com, but a few months back (when I was far more naive) I caught Waggish.com on the drop, received an offer for it on Sedo a few days later, and let it go for $350 after some light negotiating. I later found out that the company who purchased the domain was a venture-backed startup.

Let ChlamydiaTesting.com go for $20 to a fellow NP-er, who quickly re-sold to a chlamydia testing lab for $909. Good for him, but...ouch!

Probably could have raked in a lot more for VibratingRing.com ($1200), too.

I sold videostream.com back in 99 for a fraction of what it is worth today.
