I started out by buying up 50 domain names. One has to start somewhere, and I consider this to be seed educational expense.

In about 2 weeks since, I have :

40 Names on Sedo, 158 Views, 8 clicks, $0.45 earned.

10 Names on NameDrive, 30 views, 0 clicks, $0.00 earned.

This is a tiny amount, but at least am glad that something has begun.

My question is : How log does it take for Sedo or ND to optimize your site once you put in keywords? Does it take 4-6 weeks to ramp up and get more traffic, or after 2 weeks is this the rate of clicks I can expect?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Generally I'd say that you might be able to expect slightly higher click-thru rates since those can take a month or so to level out with keywords, but as far as traffic goes... you're out of luck. Traffic doesn't just ramp up by parking- it doesn't go up at all. Gotta develop sites to get traffic or buy names with inherent typein traffic.

Congrats buddy,

everyone starts with a few cents...
in a few months i am sure you will get the hang of the industry and
will become a real domainer = )

I would suggest to play with the domain names and see where they perform
the best.
On the moment namedrive is going very well.
the parking pages look very good and they have a good click through rate.

poker and casino domains do great at fabulous

and for selling domains i would suggest sedo

good luck and merry xmas!!!

Take the cost of those 50 names and buy 1 or 2 good ones and earn more. JMO

That's good advice to follow.

Best advice I can give is
1/ Get a CheapHosting Package ,Very cheap hosting is available.
2/ Put all your names on it.
3/ Make one-page or miniwebsites on them using a freebie site creator program
4/ Place some freely available articles for content on them
5/ Place YPN or Google Adsense ad code
6/ Watch the money roll in.

Sedo, namedrive and all the other parking programs can not compete with the potential income and the control you have when you create your own parked names this way.

Thanks. I might do that when I get the time, starting with the best site and work my way down.

"40 Names on Sedo, 158 Views, 8 clicks, $0.45 earned".

The important fact is that if you can get these figures from doing nothing but parking the domain, just think what you can achieve with development

Would you say these are impressive figures, considering that there is no development whatsoever, and I don't know much about keyword SEO? I am sure it could do better if I knew more about keywords.

What sort of 'development' examples can you provide, that have worked for you? Have there been instances where you just spend a couple of hours developing a site, and it then shot up in value (either clicks or sale bids)? Or has it usually been extensive development effort, requiring days of time per site?

1). Where can I get this cheap hosting? How much does it cost?
4). Does one have the keep the sites updated with new content every couple of days, to get repeat business, or is just making it a one-pager and leaving it still worthwhile?
6). Can you give an example of a site that you have developed, where you might have been making $X with Sedo or Namedrive, but making it a one-pager with Google Adsense resulted in several times more money?

You must be careful when looking at very cheap hosts as they tend to have more downtime then the more expensive ones. Sure you may not care your site is down for 3-12 hours a month but when the google bot comes around and sees your site down, it cares and it will remove you from the listings.

Therefore be very careful when picking a host and aim for something around $5 a month, don't go any lower.

Would that be $5/month PER domain, or for all domains put together?

Make sure you find a host that allows addon and or parked domains. Then you can host your sites all under 1 account.

This is great advice. Most of the clients we've had that do this makes lot of $$. We have one guy whom has a couple servers doing just this and nothing else on them servers. He can work at home doing this full time if he wanted, but he doesn't want too..

Please do not PM me asking for 1 of his domain names. Unlike other hosting companies on Namepros we do not freely give out exact information of our clients. Our clients privacy is very important.
