Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

OK, it's been a bad couple days...

First, I had a problem on eBay that I have to dispute (involves a non-paying bidder and $100+ in fv fees).. I wrote their billing two days ago and still no answer.

Now, I log onto Paypal to find I'd been charged a second time ($97) for something I bought and paid for via StormPay on the 5th! So, I go to send PayPal an email via their contact form and it keeps giving me a blank page after I submit..

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't how eBay/PayPal picks up some loose Holiday change...

Not to mention I am so fed up with all the spam auctions on eBay these days anyway, sellers have to compete with cross-posted auctions for Genuine Tummy Twiddlers and buyers have to wade thru all that junk looking for a "real" item to bid on!

Hopefully you can get it resolved, I feel for you. What browser are you using? Try submitting the contact form in another browser and see if it still gives you the blank page.

IE..

I finally called PayPal and talked to "Peter"... I was informed that I had to fill out, print, and mail them a signed affadavit disputing the charge, and they'd "investigate the matter fully".

When I replied that was ridiculous, my being deprived wrongly of $100 over the Holidays (can you even see this being resolved by mail over the Holidays?), he said he understood but this is the procedure they have to follow.

The funny thing is, the charge shows up in the Paypal interface, but not the StormPay one.. you'd think they'd have some way of telling if it was a "glitch" or not.

They also told me I have to dispute the charge with the merchant and when I inquired if there was anything they could do to get a refund if he refused to return it, he replied they'd do "whatever they could".

Bah! And here I'm missing a week of work because of this cold as well.. nice end to the year!

Paypal is kinda ridiculous, as you well know. Often they'll just take the cash away completely and neither side gets any money. As you said, I guess that's how they earn some extra cash over the holidays unfortuneately.

Whenever I email PayPal, they email me three weeks later and say "sorry for the delay, it's the holidays, please call us if you're still having problems"

I mean WTF is the contact form there for, if they don't expect to reply, even 3 weeks late!! :td:

PS: RJ, wish you can muster some of your popularity and get a real PayPal representative on this forum ASAP! :xf.love:

I don't doubt it.. what makes me angry is the fact I received no confirmation email from the form contact (ditto to one I sent to ebay) so how're you to know if it actually went thru?

The other thing is when they limit the number of characters you can type into the form.. some things can't be detailed in "1000 chars"...

Anyway, my blog is crawled regularly and I made sure I posted about it!

BTW- a public thanks to RobertJr for the new Avatar ;)

Yeah the limit of chars is insane, especially when you finally send it, then they never care to look at it. Calling them is a waste of long distance, they play some cheap tune and a random PayPal rep will respond 3 hrs after... oops, wrong department, fax us stuff ! :grr: :alien:

Really sad to hear that Dave. Hope everything gets back on track :tu: !

I had a problem with a PayPal online payment form once. It kept timing out! It seems they are constantly having one problem or the other.

Best of luck Dave!

That kept happening to me tonight.. it'd time out before I finished and I'd have to log in again!

I sometimes wonder if they don't make it incredibly frustrating hoping you'll just give up!

I really wish there was some way to bring back the "old days" when Customer Service actually meant something. Such a shame that we all have to go thru these types of things just to get our problems resolved. :|

Here's an update: Apparently there was a bank processing error where customers were double charged (according to StormPay). They're supposedly in the process of correcting this now. <waiting anxiously>

Still no email from eBay re: the FV fees tho.. doesn't surprise me, they most like want the problem to roll over to their next billing cycle (today) so they can invoice me the fees first.
