I was speaking to a friend on the phone the other day , i said check my new website (an autoblog bulldog did for me) it's called celebrityshow.tv A few days later i dropped into my friends place and said did you check it out ??
he said i couldn't find it ??? i said what do you mean ? the answer i got was ....... hey i typed in celebrityshow.tv.com but nothing happened ????
I just smiled ..... 'pack your overnight bags folks ... this is gonna take longer than expected' oh no !!!

Oh nooooos... what if TV.com started selling subdomains!

Until the average person is made aware of the .tv domain, most will still associate anything you tell them with .com.. I've run into exactly the same sort of exchange on occasion since I got my .tv (and other non.com domains, for that matter).

You can always tell 7mile.com this and do a post lol.

Then in 5 years time check back on 7mile and say frank look at me now rolling in type in traffic. Lol

i just got a new Sign made above my shop i put a dot tv name on there ,,,,big mistake
they just use com or co.uk.....we will be changing the sign
after looking at poor sales on ebay ok not the best place to sell domains but gives you a idea what the man in the street thinks of dot tv..they dont sell .
yes i know it takes time,my kids are 13 and 18 i look at what there looking at on the net
and its not dot tv.....maybe there more then enough web sites on the net for news film
games the world just does not need anymore websites.
i will give it more time were talking 10 years i think.t

just like with anything else, it takes training-

so, someone types in .tv.com- but then you take 2 minutes and explain, no, its just .tv- cool eh? nice and short and easy to remember-
then they tell someone, only they will make sure to say, oh yeah, its not .com, its just straight up .tv- and so on and so forth-
there are many .tv pages on the web, so there are people who get it it wont take 10 years hulls- video on the web is moving much faster than that- but it wont be tomorrow.
i own both tv and tv.com because tv in general is infiltrating the web- and i think even with tv.coms, .tv is still gonna going to be able to successfully coexist with .com, and tv.com~

BillBoards are the answer, as much as I personaly dislike bill boards, a couple in the right location with just (.TV - The Future Is Now ! )on them might help..

IMO every extension besides .TV still has potential for problems, there are tons of folks who still barely use email. I was helping a client with their email and they had no idea you could make a new folder to save crap in. For crying out loud! Don't worry, the next generation of grown ups will know how to navigate the net like I know how to navigate a card catalogue. All the folks 23 and under look at eachother with a confusing expresion, card catalogue???

reminds of the most recent incident, just yesterday only i gave a 13 yr old boy a website url, i told him that it's Streambox.tv and i was just watching over his shoulder to see what he was typing,

to my surprise he typed the url as www.streambox.tv.com.

I had to tell him that it's just .tv and not .tv.com.

yeah, .com comes by default to people's mind just like 1-800 is the first thing that comes to mind when we talk about toll free numbers. even though 1-866,1-877 are also toll free numbers.

i tried it with my daughter- told her to check out fluff.tv (they make sock puppets)- she typed it right BUT,that is due to EXPOSURE- she was hooked on acceptable.tv when it was on mtv- so the public just needs more exposure-

The bad part is that as we retrain it's going to be back and forth. As companies see people typing in .tv.com they will then stop advertising the .tv. I have seen TNT.tv and NBA.tv and I hope that doesn't change but if it does I'm afraid it's going to be awhile.
