Hi Guys:

I recently purchased this domain name to find out later that it has some TM issues. I was very worried so i decided to email nokia. I finally got through to someone who was high up in the firm and i spoke to him about the domain name. He told me that if im not using it to sell nokia products unoffically it should be OK. I then foned them becasue i wasn't happy with my answer, at this point i had proffesional legal advice. I was told on the phone to hand the domain name over and they will refund me and pay me and inconvienience cost. I then went to my legal advisor and told him what happened, he then got a guy from his team to chase it up. I was then told 'AGAIN' its ok to own. This dispute is really doing my head in, i dont know what to do. I really want to keep it but the hassle is causing to much stress.

Every day the case changes, im now getting confirmation in writing i can use and sell the domain name.

GRRRRRR...

Anyone had a case like this?

TM issues can be VERY frustrating. :|

I personally stay away from domains with TM issues; I like to stay clear of any potential troubles arising. So, no, I haven't been involved with any TM disputes, and definitely not with the changing of cases everyday.

Hope it works out well for you Guvana :tu: !

Good Luck :] !

Whelp, it seems that n*kia isn't interested on your domain.... so what's the problem? Unless that it's you who's chasing them for compensation?... :-/

BTW.. I owned a the exact name of a TM... really huge international business... I was too worried because the name is exactly the trade name of the company... What I did was just to sell it somewhere here at namepros :notme:

you can ask you registrar to delete the name. since it is older than 5 days, it will go through the normal deletioln cycle statring from the time they initiate the delete request at the registry level.

I think you should just keep it and if nokia really want it they will get it.... if not they will just leave you alone :) . just wait and see what happens :)

if you delete it within the first 4-5 days, many registrars will give you back the money, assuming you do this very infrequently.
after the 5 days, they cqan delete it, but you do not get your money back, as they dont get it back either from the registry

It definatly confirmed. They told me they dont want it at present and if for any reason in the future they do want it they will seek me or the person who owns it. There confirming it in writing. WOOOOOOOOOW! i finally got the case sorted.

Now i can develop it, but i aint got a clue how....

to find out later that it has some TM issues.

That's one of the lamest things I've ever seen posted here, but just barely. You register a typo of "Official Nokia", and then later learn to your surprise that there is, oh, one of the largest technology companies on earth named "Nokia"?

I was then told 'AGAIN' its ok to own.

Oh, suuuure, there's nothing wrong with an obvious typo of a domain name which purports to correspond the "official" website of a famous company.

Seriously, for what legitimate purpose could you possibly use this domain name?

Ah, that's what I get for reading without my glasses.

But spelling "official nokia" correctly is not any better if you are not nokia.

I still want to know how someone ends up registering "official nokia" without ever having heard of Nokia.

It's official, there was no animal named "Kia" in the movie Shrek. There was going to be, but it got eaten by the Googly Bear (who then mysteriously vanished).

If you hate the Korean car maker, how about making a site against them?

But don't tell us you didn't know they have a trademark, either.
