I searched out all the threads and there isn't an officially designated .xyz thread so how about this one to cover the subject?

So to start off my first xyz reg is:

SH3.xyz
:xf.grin:

Sh stands for Shanghai

May have little value if any but I like short domains as possible that I can get in new extensions and with majority of numbers taken I figured why not for the low reg fee right now. Plus it sorry of rhymes.

Ok, this was supposed to happen tonight but looks like it's already live. I guess .99 cent regs, per year, every year for 1.111B Class .XYZ Domains

6, 7, 8, 9 digit .xyz domains. Maybe somebody who isn't tech challenged like myself can explain it.
https://aydacfu.xyz/

I tried hitting the website yesterday after it was Tweeted out. It wasnt ready for public. Lol.

This is an interesting move.
  • xyz brand could dominate the IoT namespace with this move ... These would function like IP addresses, good for brand awareness at least.
  • UNI mentions using it as a cryptocurrency, but the carrying cost is still a bit high (even at .99/ year). An $8 carrying cost of a Chinese Premium .com worth, say, $1K - 2K is a negligible amount, less than 1 percent. Inflation eats away more than that if you were to park your $2k in cash. Let's hypothetically say people started trading specifically 6N .xyz as a digital currency. I think the price of each 6N .xyz would have to reach into the double digits to offset the carrying cost of the xyz currency year to year. As such, I think another gTLD could better position themselves as a digital currency with cheaper renewals / better blockchain functionality builtin.
Also regarding using gTLDs to push into new IoT namespaces, I kind of called this back in 2014 for you gTLD doubters :-, People in the future are going to have lots of life-enhancing AI bots / IoT devices, and they'll need addressable names for them:

I was actually thinking about gurus last night when watching the movie Her. In the film people rely on OS's, virtual people, that help them though the day and in some ways are better than regular people. Can you imagine a world where people start registering a personalized .guru domain to facilitate communication with their OS? Sure that's unlikely, but some of these new gTLDs are going to take on a life of their own in ways we can't imagine.

So is it possible to say that if people start investing in the numbers, that keyword name domains will increase along side? I'm not saying by tens of thousands,im saying by having keyword domains sell for what they were selling many months ago?

Certainly anything is possible, but this recent announcement pushes .XYZ more towards what is essentially an Internet utility. I think the 1.11Billion Class (with the the .99 price protection) are going to move differently from other xyz domains.

Seems like failure, at least from the domain investing side, 1.1 billion + possibilities. Where to start, is there a market, how do get the word out etc.

I guess they're going for endusers on this one, back to is there a market for it.

Well at first sight I would agree with you but ... There is more to be seen behind the curtain, within six months we will know for sure ...

However the aim that Negari is taking, seems to be at revolutionary internet concepts ... Specifically the Internet of things / preselecting devices and matching to a domain for the first time ever ... Well what does that mean ? Simply, making an experience more personal ...

You visit a website which is clustered with data and instead of having to memorize ridiculous URLs, you're rather matched to a unique domain ... Yes this is completely unique for domains in general other then that of Facebook or YouTube or Google plus or other major database ... but the concept is being able to access a specific URL in order to gain entry to whatever you're looking to achieve ...

https://www.namepros.com/threads/of...ssion-news-debates.889882/page-54#post-618043

Here's what we have now ^

Imagine if you had,
9867362.xyz instead ;)

There is also an example where if you text a code to a specific toll free number you'll get the information, ask and receive ...

There concept more however, visit 7654362.xyz and all specific marketing information is there for whenever what URL is marketed ... well that sounds simple enough, but it's really not ... It's drives an entirely different industry out of thin air ... In the domain spectrum, I don't see it being "investments gained" but I do see it being "investments bought" ...

And with that said it's still very powerful

More information to add to a growing system which in the hindsight makes the Internet and business alike more coherent and knowledgeable on extensions and domains usage, which is a major plus for everyone in the Internet business, groundbreaking for teaching the Common Enduser "mom and pop" shops about domains ... In general

Yes this idea still requires extensive knowledge but it proves that the world is evolving, so fast that you can now say domains are about to become actual personal digital assets, wether it be for IP independent codes or Marketing ... There is a great approach being made in my stern and honest opinion !

Time will tell

Yes, I believe this will happen as well, I still believe there is a large amount of time to be had but I do see it happening ... Major change

Why would they, it's still .xyz. Keywords tend to be for websites, this stuff, something different

Why don't you read what I quoted you earlier ... You're missing the point and that's alright ... It's a matter of ignorance, we all have it

Like your price expectation of your .surgery. I did read it, seems like this will bring the truly gullible out in regging long numeric domains.

Maybe there should be a separate showcase thread where we can see the over 1 billion regs of numerics in xyz.

Just a public service announcement that Namepros has an url shortener built-in. The following will redirect to this discussion: namepros.com/threads/889882/

But point taken. There's going to be a huge need for addressable & memorable names for IoT devices. It remains to be seen what other TLDs will do who want a piece of this pie.

The .XYZ registry had to be delighted with the support they got from China in the West.cn auction that yielded the highest sale reported this week - 9.xyz at $170,250 (that is also one of the three biggest sales reported so far this year in any extension). Three others landed in the top ten - #3 YY.xyz at $37,500, #5 22.xyz at $25,800 and #7 ZZ.xyz at $17,100.

2016 Article. Source dnjournal

also spotted the uniregistry $1 xyz regs.

revolutionary?

this isn't innovation.. this is desperation.

Common offense, aye ? More like common sense ... I didn't invest in Heart.Surgery because it's .surgery ... I invested in it because it makes sense, right now you cannot see it but the medical industry is slowly becoming more innovative to how they market their expertise in certain sectors of said industry ...

revolutionary?

this isn't innovation.. this is desperation.

If you look at as an investment, why of course, if you look at it as what it's meant to be - a utility / shortner for devices of IOT then it's a completely different view ... Brush up on IOT or advanced computer algorithms

Spent 2 bucks and regged a couple of patterned numeric .xyz domains. I think the only hope currently for .xyz numerics like these is the Chinese market. Anyway, I now have 4 total .xyz domains. I did have 5 and managed to make 1k from one.

8877788.xyz
99889988.xyz

If these get hot at some point, I'll be happy to make a few bucks on these two. Not getting any more though. Far too speculative for me. If they take off, it will just have to be my loss. :)

What a bargain... 3K renewal...
I think 3k is a fair reg/renewal price, especially for a business or a startup. 13k would however be quite extreme, i have to admit

I have registered VR.xyz

Well I have VRlabs.xyz, you can barely tell the difference. :xf.smile:

Jokes aside, I like it, I was planning on selling it for a bargain here since I needed the cash, but I think I'll hold on to it a bit longer.

And congrats, that's a great buy.
