I let all my .CCs drop, I couldn't even get $20 - $30 bucks for them from endusers and I had some stellar 1-words.

Will never reg one again.

You are in my boat. I am doing the same. No enduser is interested in .CC domains but I see lot of domainers going after .CC names. I wish them best of luck but I fear most of them will end up losing their money. I had some top quality keywords which are getting dropped now after keeping it for several years...

From what I have seen and I know Shane Cultra has written about it too, the interest has been from China. The place to try to sell .cc names seems to be 4.cn. Surprisingly numbers are popular in .cc I expect .com and .cn but NNN.cc and even NNNN.cc sell sometime, the problem is .cc is not an $8 reg and renewal.

In which languages is Tokyo usually spelt with a "i"?

Neither French or English, anyway. More exactly, it is accepted as an alternate spelling, but it is not the most common spelling.

Whatever the value (or lack of value) of .CC for GEO names, the spelling already presents a major hurdle. I doubt that you will be able to sell such a name,

Really? I just checked the Italian Wikipedia: it is spelled Tokyo:
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo

Also checked an Italian online tourist guide: same:
http://www.italiajapan.net/viaggi-giappone/tokyo/

Yes, I know that there is a band with the name "Tokio", but this does not create a market, IMHO.

Mate,
1- im italian and i know better italian than wikipedia

2- You get in wikipedia the italian version of english page

3- the letter Y simply do not exist in Italian so its impossible for us to use something we dont have

4- using adword key planner
- Tokyo 368000 searches x month
- Tokio 168000 searches x month

almost 50 % bit too high to be just a typo, this because mostly in latin countries the form used it is Tokio

5- Officially the city name it is Tokyo so if you take official or istitutional guide you will find Tokyo in whatever language,
but open google change the language in italian / spanish and search Tokio and go for it, You will be surprised to find hundreds thousand results.

6- google results Tokyo 189M / Tokio 27M

7- in english countries sometime use Tokio. from WSJ
Product crack: Edelweiss Tokio Life Wealth Builder

8- if you come to Italy please eat pizza and pasta, but if you like sushi you will find ONLY Tokio restaurant not Tokyo, check just it by yourself :)

It is pretty hard to sell English words in .cc, what about selling non English words (excluding Japanese or Chinese languages).
IMO, tokio.cc is not the best find in .cc

Personally I don't think .cc is doing that well for such type of keywords. I recently dropped Economy.cc after keeping for several years with no interest from any buyer...

Just saw tt.cc sold for 15,000 EUR at sedo.com, and this domain was just sold for 1,650 EUR last year, only half a year from 1650 to 15000, a nice buy and sell.

Hi, this is my first .cc domain

i would seriously consider making that the last one too... unless you got tons of money and effort to waste on crap names in a crappy tld for some reason or another. which is probably the case judging by your recent .company/.rocks/.etcetera endeavors

This is why I buy them to develop , wicker.cc and wearabletech.cc which I have had a couple offers for.
I have rocked rankings with two .cc 's in the past.
