Offer thru email

I have received offers in the past for different domain names, but most of the time the sale never happens.
It appears this time I may actually have a serious offer in the x,xxx range.
Should I go thru escrow.com for this type of transaction? Or is there a cheaper alternative? What type payment should I ask for? Paypal, Check or Moneywire? The domain is listed at Sedo and Afternic and parked at Namedrive.
Thanks for any advice given.

Don't need to tell you to be careful ;)

Use escrow, split fees with the buyer. escrow.com or sedo.com are the easy and first options, and while there are many here that are completely comfortable with escrow.com, I typically would point those less familiar with the process to sedo.com just because it's a system that you're more familiar with.

Just my .02

My personal choice is escrow.com , many sales , 100 + with no probs and they release the funds much quicker than Sedo do.

Good luck

Thanks for your input Wot!
I just noticed on Afternic - they have an escrow service for 3%. Has anyone used them before?

Honesty - Escrow.com is a *snap* - without question a safe and smart way to do business. Ask the buyer to pickup escrow - Ive never had a problem asking the seller to pickup these funds - If they make an issue out of it, split it - its well worth the security for both parties!

I think Sedo has the best system in place for escrow service, because from what I can tell they actually take possession of both the money and the doman... Whereas with Escrow.com, they never take possession of the domain, they just attempt to verify it's been transfered, which leaves you open to scammers who only change the email address in the contact info and claim you never transferred the domain. For being an escrow service, I think they seriously need to rethink that approach.

Escrow.com has been flawless so far, as both buyer and seller.

I would like to know if other people here agree with him, I think it is true
that sedo owned the domain for a short period.

Sedo do take names to their own account at different registrars however I am currntly having a problem with them.

I bought and completed payment on a name on 27th Nov, It is in Sedo's account at the registrar.

Despite three emails to [email protected] I cannot get the name / transfer code. I have posted the email address as they have failed to respond - does seem to be a trait amongst sedo brokers :?

I have decided to use escrow.com and I have also asked the buyer to pay the fees. I hope everything goes smoothly. This will be the largest sale I have ever had! :)

Agree on this.
And, if very unlucky this happened (Buyer only change the email address in the contact info and claim you never transferred the domain.), what can we do to protect us?

And, who knows that this kind of Scammer do happen in the past or not?
