Odd Delay, General question about registering

I just registered what is probably the best domain I've ever gotten tonight at GoDaddy.After I checked out and waited a few moments for the confirmation email to arrive,I went to the Manage Domains area to try and set the nameservers to Sedo.
Usually domains appears in my account in a matter of seconds,but now it's going on an hour and it's still not in there.
I notice on GoDaddy when I check the domain again,it shows up as still available.And to further the problem,it appears the WHOIS server is down temporarily for maitenance.
Is that the cause of the delay do you think? I'm hoping it's that and not that someone else possibly got the name before me.Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

GoDaddy has had a problem with false regs. If this is the situation you will be refunded. You might want to try other registrar's whois or http://www.internic.net/whois.html
