Please appraise this unique domain, o2.cc

P.S. Maybe Frank a.k.a. "knarfmusic" can try to tackle this one! ;)

How high can .CC domains sell for?

Thanks!

It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Yup - O2 = Big = Court.

???

WHAT?! WHY???
o2 = OXYGEN!
That's AS GENERIC AS YOU CAN GET!
No one can have a Trademark on that!
...
Sure, if I started a company with the same products...maybe...but not the generic term o2!
It can stand for anything!

Thanks! :)

P.S. The same can be said for VIP.CC, Fonzie! ;)

Google o2 and look at the top result. You would need to be extremely careful how you used to the domain in order to keep it. Notwithstanding this, you still could be in for a UDRP arbitration.

This domain can have MANY more uses than "Google's Top Result".

Thanks!

o2.pl is one of the biggest polish free email services and I don't think that they have problems with trademarks.

Have you read the latest changes to USA TM law? If not, you may want to brush up on it.

Exactly DNB8!
I'm not "scared" of any lawsuit with this domain!
I CANNOT see how ANYONE can make a claim to such A GENERIC term as o2!
Its a :gn: with super potential!

Thanks!

If you read all the "details" of any TM law, you wouldn't be able to register ANY domain!
If you make it big with ANY domain, such as youtube.com did, you WILL get a lawsuit!
Unfortunately, that's how people make money!

TEAS Email from a couple of weeks back:
We can only say that, in general, where a term is generic, the term itself must be kept available for all to use.
It depends on what you use it for!

methinks you might be protesting too much...your parked website has nothing about oxygen on it...did you really plan to have a website about oxygen?

:) I'm not "protesting" :)
Not at all...just wondering why you would even think that o2 could be a TM issue?!
I REALLY don't see it.

Thanks!

low xxxx, very good domain,, but maybe your facing TM issues on this one

1. Make sure your parking page has nothing to do with :talk: *cough
then there will be no tm issue to worry about.

2. I think the highest .cc sale ever was around $5000, but there have been very few in that area. I have a 2 character .cc and although it is not of the same calibre, I would still let it go for $100, so TBH I do think an $x,xxx sale is pretty unlikely at all at this point in time.

3. This is a great 2 character name, and a great .cc, but the extention still needs developing more before I think this name will have any 'real' value.

Best of luck
:)

Just don't use it for mobile related stuff. No TM issues then. Nobody can trademark the oxygen molecule for all purposes. Use it for something distinctly different, like rock music, or whatever.. or better yet, some informational site about oxygen...

It's not about whether you're using an identical term as their trademark. It's whether their trademark is infringed.

also keep in mind:
-just don't try to sell it to O2 the mobile services company
-don't display related ads on your page

If you just park it for sale, then you may be in for some TM trouble. It's best to develop.

Of course I wouldn't use it for ":talk:" ! ;)
Just like Josh_1 said, "Nobody can trademark the oxygen molecule for all purposes."!
I'm REALLY not worried about TM issues with this one!
I'm more concerned whether .CC still has a future?
What do you think?
