I just wanted to say that I post on Namepros.com. This makes me a loser for many reasons.
I recently read a number of comments talking smack about Namepros on some blogs and forums and the supposed benefits of other "forums" - some were ranked Forum of the YEAR ! Even... Most of those on the collective downgrading of Namepros seem to think that the forum was good "once" but then all the good people like themselves left. Check your ego at the door?
I just wanted to say that different people have different needs for different things. Here's why new domainers SHOULD spend time at Namepros.
People explain why something like .CO, .TV, .US may be a poor investment but at least on this forum many people EXPLAIN. You're welcome to disagree.
Many people here are NEW and don't have the experience of other forums. Marketing 2011 is not Marketing 2000. Technology 2011 is not Technology 2000. SEO 2011 isn't even SEO 2010! Naivete and innocence can leave you open to be ripped off - but they are the same qualities that let you see the world in new and better ways.
It's not all about domains. Sometimes it's ok to unwind and be stupid in the break room (see my Sig for link to Fantasy football!).
Lastly- while there are probably bigger transfers/sales on other forums and some domains on NP seem to take forever to sell and are bumped every day for a year.... there are great members here on NP - some are less frequent visitors than they have been previously but they are still here. Some are active and some very active posters.
But ..
John Berryhill hangs out here!
Elliot comes from time to time.
Ron Jackson is here sometimes.
Johname appraises like crazy.
Archangel and Namenut and others make the Break Rooms fun.
The .TV subforum has GREAT members (you can find them if you look around the interwebs)
MediaWizard shares his expertise and smarts.
GilesColey is always willing to share his latest movements.
SDSinc always ready to mock everyone.
Mis_Chiff to be nice.
And while RJ and NPQ aren't heavily active they do defend their users when the it is needed.
A forum is only as good as its community. There are problems. There are issues. Overall I think NP is a great place to just get your bearings and actually ask the dumb questions without getting sent down in flames.
Thats all. Jimmy Fallon started, I have to leave.
